Comment[edit]

(Tom Wilson was my Dad, and he produced so much great stuff like The Animals, Hugh Masekela, Fraternity of Man (Soundtrack for Easy Rider), Clarence Avant, Conway Twitty, Country Joe,and about a jillion others. I want to make a documentary of his work and get him a Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame...Can anybody help? It's alot of work and costs at least ten grand. The people being honored before my dad is laughable. My name is Darien Wilson and my e-mail is wilsondari@yahoo.com}

Forgotten greats of the record business?[edit]

Pasted from article:

Thomas Blanchard Wilson, Jr. is one of the forgotten greats of the music business.

That might be true but this doesn't seem right for an encylopedia article.

Tom Wilson not Catholic[edit]

The article states that Wilson was Baptist, yet he is linked to the Catholic entertainers category. I did not see how to edit this.

And Darien: your dad was and is a hero to those who think a great producer is one who facilitates an artist's vision. Tom Wilson's credit on such a diverse range of brilliant records mark him as the greatest producer of the multi-track tape era.

The actor Thomas F. Wilson is a devout Catholic[1], which might be the cause for this confusion. - Ugliness Man 23:14, 24 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

"The" Tom Wilson?[edit]

When I typed "Tom Wilson" into the search field and hit "Go", I was looking for the Back to the Future actor, but instead I was lead to the producer. Now, I see the comments above hailing him as a hero and whatnot, but is he really the primary Tom Wilson that someone should be automatically taken to when looking up the article for that name? Between the aforementioned actor and the Ziggy cartoonist, I submit that there's no real justification to say that any of these 3 is necessarily more likely than the others to be the person someone's looking for when they look up the name. I propose that this article be renamed to Tom Wilson (producer), and that Tom Wilson be changed to redirect to the disambig currently linked to at the top of this article. - Ugliness Man 10:29, 24 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

On Noroton's advice, I did some Google searches, first on "Tom Wilson", then on "Thomas Wilson", to support my position.
I initially did the "Tom Wilson" search on google.ca (since I'm Canadian, and it's my default Google search), then realized that the domain would effect the results (the majority of the results were for the former Junkhouse member). On google.com, however, in the first three pages of results, I find 6 links for the Back to the Future actor (including the first, third and sixth on the first page), 2 for the Ziggy cartoonist, and 2 for the former Junkhouse member. The only link referring to the producer in question is a link to the current Wikipedia article (fourth result on first page), which leads me to believe that if the article was changed to a disambig page, the google result would link to that instead.
When I change the search term to "Thomas Wilson", the first two results are the Back to the Future actor (as is the 9th result on the second page), the third result is Wikipedia's disambig link, the fifth is Wikipedia's article on the producer (see above comment), and the fifth and tenth are for the former Junkhouse member. The only link on the first page of these search results which is relevant to the producer is, again, the current Wikipedia article.
If anyone has any evidence to support the idea that a Wikipedia search for "Tom Wilson" should lead to the producer's article before any other, please present it. If there are no convincing arguments in the next few days, I will "be bold" and begin the moving/renaming process myself. - Ugliness Man 23:14, 24 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Almost a week later and no comments on the subject either way. I've renamed the article to Tom Wilson (producer), and I'm currently in the process of editing articles which link to Tom Wilson with piped disambigs. - Ugliness Man 21:41, 30 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

After 1968?[edit]

Is anything known why there appears to be a sudden halt of activities after 1968?
