Notability Defense[edit]

Jikaoli Kol and Afus199620 I believe the subject of this article meets the following WP:ANYBIO notability criteria

The person has made a widely recognized contribution that is part of the enduring historical record in a specific field.
He, with his co-founders, took a well known company, DoorDash, to a public offering, thus cementing them into the history of American business.

And considering the WP:BASIC criteria I believe he meets the following

"received significant coverage in multiple published secondary sources that are reliable, intellectually independent of each other,[5] and independent of the subject" as demonstrated in teh References section of the article by nationwide, current journalistic sources.

Additionally, as a first-generation Chinese-American, Xu may qualify under WP:IHN.

Thus, I believe the notability template should be removed. Thank you Jikaoli Kol for you kind evaluation of my statement and I welcome your feedback. LassoLaneFolks (talk) 23:39, 9 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Draft[edit]

Hello! My name is Abby and I'm here on Wikipedia on behalf of my employer, DoorDash, to share an expanded Tony Xu article for editor review:

This article includes most of the claims in the current entry, but replaces the Management section (which is more about the company) with more detailed overviews of his early life, career, board service, and investments. Additionally, in the Personal life section, I've removed mention of the name of his daughter (who is a minor, privacy requested) and noted a few well-documented personal interests. I believe all of the claims are neutral, easily verifiable, and sourced appropriately. In the infobox, I've added an image, replaced "United States of America" with "American" and corrected the number of children.

I will avoid editing the article directly, and I'm asking editors to please review the draft and update appropriately. The article is not very long, but I'm willing to tackle section-by-section if that's easier. Also, I'm happy to address any questions or concerns. Thanks for reviewing! @Afus199620: Thank you for reviewing and updating the Wikipedia entry! I have a question and follow-up request, if you’d be so kind (apologies in advance).
  • In the draft shared above, I wanted to correct information about his family, specifically the number of children. However, I'm wondering if mention of his wife and children can actually be removed altogether for safety / security concerns. This is the subject's preference but I am not familiar with Wikipedia's rules about mentioning non-notable family members.
  • Having reviewed the live article, Tony Xu says he 1) mowed lawns on his own, 2) delivered pizzas for a very brief period of time and not during his childhood (this was 'research' in the early DoorDash days), and 3) worked with his mother until the age of 16. Since these don't seem like the most important details about what makes him notable, I propose changing the sentence "Xu began working at an early age, washing dishes at the same restaurant where his mother worked, mowing lawns with a friend, and delivering for Domino's Pizza" to "Xu began working at an early age, at times washing dishes at the same restaurant where his mother worked." Does this work for you?
Thanks again for your assistance, and sorry for these follow-up requests!! AH at DoorDash (talk) 22:32, 1 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I changed the article according to your suggestions. Unfortunately I can't remove parts about non-notable family members. Such information is common in articles about public persons. But I also don't know all the specific rules about this.--Afus199620 (talk) 20:44, 2 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
