Name concern[edit]

Thank you (Afí-afeti) for creating the main article and the ceremony. I'm more concerned about the title though, I have been looking up the sources including Trace website and around 95% of what I could find refer to the ceremony as only Trace Awards & Festival (even Billboard). Only this says Trace Awards & Festival, so my question is, is it Trace Awards or Trace Awards & Festival? dxneo (talk) 01:53, 2 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

It’s called Trace Awards & Festival, also referred to as Trace Award. Note it’s an award/festival a three days even:
  • Day 1: Conference [1]
  • Day 2: Award Show [2] (the billboard link is the award link, which is the day 2 focusing on just the award).
  • Day 3: Festival (I believe this was dedicated for performance and celebration of Trace 20 years)
Look at this File:Trace Awards & Festival 2023.png
You see the date 20 to 22 October, that the official cover. Just like the BET, they always do a pre-award show before the main ceremony. It wouldn’t be right redirecting it to Trace Awards or redirecting Trace Awards to it, so I created a disambiguation page titled Trace Awards, to clarify this: 10 years ago Trace established Trace Urban Music Awards, which is also referred to as Trace Awards; just like Trace Awards & Festival is also tagged.
All it’s social:Instagram, Facebook and Trace Tv website also reads Trace Awards & Festival Afí-afeti (talk) 05:48, 2 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Afí-afeti, I'm more concerned about the sources, is there any clarification on the Billboard indicating that they're referring to the "awards" ceremony? Is BET called "BET & Festival"? Lots of awards ceremonies nowadays are not concluded in a day even some of South African Music Awards. Before proceeding to requesting move at WP:RM, is there any proof of what you're saying, in terms of pre-show, awards, and festival?
It's hard to tell if a page is authentic or not nowadays as verification badges are for sale.
Oh and I think Trace Awards is an inappropriate disambiguation which is most likely to be deleted if moved to mainspace as it only has one link. see WP:Articles for deletion/Seeed (disambiguation). dxneo (talk) 09:21, 2 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Yes there is, check the billboard link and Pulse Kenya. I also gave you link to the verified socials where each of the winners were posted on. Also check The Nation Newspaper publication, the image used on the post also verified it was referring to Trace Awards & Festival. Afí-afeti (talk) 11:06, 2 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Just like the Soundcity MVP Awards Festival also referred to as TheMVPs or Soundcity MVP. Afí-afeti (talk) 11:12, 2 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Afí-afeti, the two links you just provided above refer to the ceremony as "Trace Awards", and like I said, socials are not to be trusted no more as anyone can buy verification badges now, I just checked the promo video on YouTube and the live ceremony still "Trace Awards".
My apologies, but I'll have to look for other editors opinions at WP:RM Thank you. dxneo (talk) 14:30, 2 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
You welcome, I want you to note this. Trace announced the award as Trace Awards & Festival, you will see countless links on that:
Like I said: media houses focused on addressing the name as Trace Awards and omitted "& Festival". Here's where am going at, Trace Awards & Festival was announced to happen on 21 October 2023 in Rwanda. Then go back to the Billboard article then press this "crtl 'F'" go on the search bar type in "Rwanda or the date as seen on the announcement post made by Trace. These answers to all your question as there are no other trace award announced to happen on the date it did, and one last thing; The New Times is a popular newspaper in Rwanda.
