Triple J Hottest 100[edit]

(Message left on Florrie's talk page) Given that pretty much all the pages take the same form roughly, do you think a substitutable temple should be created, just to make setting up the page somewhat easier? --JB Adder | Talk 22:43, 25 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

A template would definitely be easier! I just added the same table as last year to have something ready for today. Florriewaltz a matilda 00:17, 26 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, I'll get working on that this afternoon after the Hottest 100...unless someone beats me to it. --JB Adder | Talk 00:43, 26 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I'm stuck in Leeds, England, so I'm on a hefty delay - You guys had number 26 listed and linked before they even introduced it, as I'm getting it - but I'll gladly play catcher on this one. I'll keep checking everything for accuracy as we go. 86.10.225.103 (talk) 04:55, 26 January 2009 (UTC) Churba[reply]

Hey, It's me again - After a quick test, I've discovered I'm on a delay of about a minute and a half. ~Churba 86.10.225.103 (talk) 05:10, 26 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

A bit of random vandalism is coming through, I'm fixing it as it appears. Churba 86.10.225.103 (talk) 06:15, 26 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Same, I think it needs to be locked. Squato

These fucking spammers are retards. Ban the repeat offenders! 123.243.210.246 (talk) 06:26, 26 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

: Why are there still dickcheeses vandalizing this page? Fuck off! Djskein79 (talk) 06:28, 26 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hardcore Vandalism[edit]

This page is getting broken as quickly as it's getting fixed. Anyone able to protect/semiprotect it at all? Geshpenst (talk) 06:27, 26 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Check WP:PROTECT. --JB Adder | Talk 06:29, 26 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I've put in a request for temporary semi-protection, it stands to see if it will be granted Churba (talk) 06:41, 26 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Probably better dropping the request. Given the amount of time they have to make a decision, it may not happen. (But miracles do happen, too.) --JB Adder | Talk 06:58, 26 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
They're back!! Djskein79 (talk) 07:03, 26 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I noticed. Predictions and just plain vandalism...hope they come through soon. --JB Adder | Talk 07:06, 26 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

It seems the vandalism jumps whenever you get between songs, while the hosts are talking. Churba (talk) 07:09, 26 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Nearly there, just two more songs to go. Churba (talk) 07:26, 26 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Woohoo! Finally protected from vandalism. 24.22.217.113 (talk) 07:29, 26 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hooray, finally! - Sarz (talk) 07:30, 26 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Truly, An Australia Day miracle. Churba (talk) 07:30, 26 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I second that. --JB Adder | Talk 07:31, 26 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Nice, it is protected for a few days. That should get rid of most of the ones who might think it is "teh funnies" to edit this after we find out what is number one.

Good work everyone, hope the rest of your Australia Day (and Hottest 100) is a good one. Squato (talk) 07:32, 26 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

ALL HAIL YOUR PROTECTOR, Xavexgoem (talk)! (07:35, 26 January 2009 (UTC))[reply]
A toast to you mate. Squato (talk) 07:45, 26 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Okay everyone, the last song is in. Now, Churba, can you see if we can get next year's page pre-approved for semi-protection upon creation? --JB Adder | Talk 07:38, 26 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

You can just drop a note on WP:ANI next time it comes around. Probably quicker results that way, ironically, then RFPP. Xavexgoem (talk) 07:40, 26 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Shit, now I accidentally vandalized it! :p That'll teach me for jumping the gun. Happy Australia day everyone, we may now relax. though, Since it's only just on 7:40 Am where I am, I've still got my whole Australia day ahead of me. If only it wasn't freezing cold and only one man better than being devoid of Australians in Leeds!

I'll put a mind towards it before next Australia day, considering the history of the hottest 100 pages, we might have a case for a Pre-emptive semi-protect. Have fun, people, wherever you are, Hoist a pint to Xavexgoem, and I'll see you all next year. Churba (talk) 07:43, 26 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Oh yes, and final point for next year: I've actually got a substitutable template ready for next year (and following years) in my sandbox. If you'd like to have a look and give your approval/disapproval, please feel free. --JB Adder | Talk 07:52, 26 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Have you got the address for the template? Florriewaltz a matilda 07:59, 26 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Just realised you meant the whole page as a template. I thought you were talking about building a properly coded/formatted table. Doesn't matter. Florriewaltz a matilda 08:25, 26 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not a vandal. Around #26 I got my hands on a copy of the list and filled in 'Electric Feel' at #2. I didn't want to spoil it so I took it off after a few minutes. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 124.183.138.54 (talk) 08:22, 26 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Pardon my doubt, but that's a big call without evidence, and unless you produce said evidence at the time of the edit(Which, frankly, I doubt exists) it's still vandalism. Churba(talk) 08:38, 26 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Include This?[edit]

Somewhere I reckon it should say it's the first time that more than one artist achieved two songs in the top 5.  PN57  11:01, 26 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Trivia[edit]

Would it not be easier to read, and consistent with other articles, if the footnotes were transformed into a trivia section? Footnotes are really intended to give advice about the source of a fact, rather than give additional information. Kransky (talk) 13:26, 26 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Except that Trivia sections are to be avoided. Explanatory notes are used to add material that explains a point in greater detail (see WP:FOOTNOTES). The notes are as easy to read as a seperate trivia list and at least these point out that there are explanatory notes rather than just a list. Other Hottest 100 articles can be noted the same way, over time. Florriewaltz a matilda 22:08, 26 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Incorrect song titles[edit]

Number 90 - Lily Allen is called 'Guess Who, Batman' not "Fuck You". —Preceding unsigned comment added by 124.176.25.50 (talk) 00:03, 27 January 2009

Number 90 is in fact called "Fuck You" rather than "Guess Who Batman". The track listing of the album on which the song is published is available at http://www.lilyallenmusic.com/lily/music/1752050 - this has been used a number of times to justify reverting the name to the correct name. While the name is certainly not the most polite, it is correct. It's even been mentioned by Rosie on JJJ! 203.214.107.12 (talk) 10:34, 14 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

101-200[edit]

Richard Kingsmill put up a list of 101-200 on his blog, should they be listed as well? TRS-80 (talk) 14:28, 29 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

No. This article is about the Hottest 100 As it was aired. However, If you want to provide a footnote with a link, then feel free. Churba (talk) 05:17, 2 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
