Untitled[edit]

Tristram Hunt (born 1974), is a controversial British TV historian. He also lectures at the University of London.

Dr Hunt's four-part series on the English Civil War, first broadcast on the BBC2 in 2002, though regarded by many as extremely gimmicky and lightweight, attracted considerable attention. Hunt added to the controversy by attacking the popular history programmes presented by David Starkey, accusing him of a "gossip columnist" approach.

In the series of programmes concluding the 100 Greatest Britons poll organised by the BBC, Hunt presented the programme advocating Isaac Newton.

Hunt also recently published his first book, Building Jerusalem [1], which received mixed reviews. He is now undertaking a biography of Friedrich Engels and has just completed a television programme for Channel 4 on the historical role of the middle class in England. He was recently appointed to the board of the Heritage Lottery Fund.

Hunt is married and lives in Harringay.

Good point[edit]

He has compared the Cromwellian England to Talibans Afghanistan. I am of less than a slight different opinion. Thinking of the Iranian way of doing things, you first rid the Monarchy, replace it by something "better", and then everything is more PC and dogmatic. One major difference, is that England had to deal with it for ten years, Iran still has it after 30 years. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.134.28.194 (talk) 09:29, 24 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

WWI[edit]

Article should be updated with his recent view on WWI "...I can hardly believe that the author of this fatuous Observer article is proposing to oversee the teaching of history in our schools..." http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/politics/10552336/Germany-started-the-Great-War-but-the-Left-cant-bear-to-say-so.html
