Official name[edit]

This article should be retitled Trust Territory of Somalia, as the name 'Somaliland' applies to British Somaliland, whose territory is now part of the Republic of Somaliland.

The coins for this country are inscribed 'Somalia'.

Somaliland is legally and internationally recognized as an autonomous region of Somalia. The Latin suffix "-ia" also means "land of" [3]. Ergo, "Somalia" when translated from Italian means the same thing as "Somaliland". Middayexpress (talk) 17:58, 1 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

As explained already, "Somalia" means "Somaliland". If I remember correctly as well, you stated that "Somaliland" only "applies to British Somaliland, whose territory is now part of the Republic of Somaliland".
