Influences[edit]

Under Music > Composing there is a list of influences, and the song "The Islander" is listed for "Folk" influences, but as far as I know, "The Islander" was actually written by Marco Hietala? I don't know where I've read this so I don't have any sources - I thought I'd just place it here. Does anyone know for certain? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 62.131.115.197 (talk) 18:32, 2 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

what does that mean? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 60.49.57.172 (talk) 05:44, 12 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Inclusion in Finnish Christians?[edit]

Do we have a source for it? If there is a source that says he is a christian, it's not linked at the bottom and I haven't seen it. I've not deleted it yet to give it some time Duke toaster (talk) 21:10, 21 August 2008 (UTC) After googling it, there is a MySpace page which claims to be set up by Mr Holopainen himself ... religion is marked as "atheist". As such, I've removed the statement (it's unsourced anyway), but if anyone finds a proper source that says he is a christian, feel free to re-add it. I checked this up; apparently his grandfather was a preacher. Tuomas described himself on an interview on Nightwish website a while back (I don't know if it's still there) as an "open-minded spiritual person", which sounds a bit like William Blake (who definately wasn't a Christian and was in fact antireligious). I guess it was assumed that because a lot of Nightwish songs use Christian themes (eg: The Carpenter, Planet Hell) that Tuomas was a Christian. As far as I know all the members of Nightwish (possibly apart from Anette) are either agnostic or pantheists. I dunno if this clears it up any? Indeed, he isn't against religion, but he himself is not really religious either, at least not of one particular religion. He says so here: http://www.nightwish.com/en/community/nightmail?month=06&year=2006. And just by the way, but songs as Carpenter or Planet Hell or Angels Fall First aren't very positive about religion, personally I found them to be quite critical. So I really wonder why those would lead to the conclusion of him being christian, maybe a critical one, but that's also quite rare ^^; ... so anyway there's an english source we can use. Here's the source where he cites he is Christian: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q9CqboTNdTs The essence behind the deeper parts of his music makes this pretty clear to me too, regardless. Composing and influences[edit]

The text for the Composing section does not appear to have anything to do with the heading. I would expect it to say something about how and why he composes. Information about which other artists he may have influenced surely belongs in a separate section with its own heading. 92.234.49.13 (talk) 09:34, 12 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Auri band[edit]

Auri seems to be an important project for Tuomas, so for editors watching this page, do you believe it makes sense to address it on the article? Bohbye (talk) 22:08, 10 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Backing vocals[edit]

Should we add "backing vocals" to the Instrument(s) on the infobox? HorrorLover555 (talk) 02:27, 3 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
