Release year?

The article mentions 1989 right at the beginning, the box to the right says 1990. 85.4.245.166 (talk) 09:46, 25 August 2009 (UTC)

Include Hurrican?

I wonder if Hurrican should be included, it's a relatively new freeware remake of the Turrican games. http://www.hurrican-game.de/ [1] --Merman1974 (talk) 16:43, 21 November 2007 (UTC)Hurrican was also the original name of the Turrican project, incidentally

there is now a Hurrican stub article. feel free to expand it. --20:31, 6 January 2009 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 77.64.171.130 (talk)

How many colors did Turrican 2 use?

I came to the encyclopedia to look that up but I don't see it anywhere.--TheGreatGiannaSisters 16:36, 21 May 2006 (UTC)

Which version? The SNES game used 256 colors plus transparencies, so possibly thousands of colors per screen. The PC game used a 256-color video mode, but it seems to change the background color for each line. 84.182.73.106 00:33, 18 February 2007 (UTC)
Seconded: The best answer is "as much as they could squeeze out of the hardware". The ST one seen in screenshot here was unusually colourful for the machine, I remember; it's probably got about 32 foreground colours onscreen between the different sprites and the status bar, and has a VCS type sky which smoothly graduates from top to bottom depending on your altitude and the "time" (in the screenshot, either the emulator doesn't support it, or the player is far enough "underground"/into "night" that it's gone to a flat dark colour). Pretty good for a machine that only officially supports 16 colours at that resolution - and it played smoothly and had awesome music struggling its way out of the YM2192 :). It may be rose tints on my specs also but I could swear that sky background used more than the usual 512 colour pallete... The Amiga and PC ones must have been *super* pretty (assuming the PC version wasn't EGA-only, which a depressing number of games continued to be even after the launch of VGA & MCGA). 193.63.174.10 (talk) 16:44, 20 March 2009 (UTC)

Expansion of the entry

I think this article should be extended to include Turrican intros. I espically remember the Turrican 2 C64 intro with a developing story and great soundtrack (by Stefan Hartwig).

Do you mean the intro of the game? That explained the backstory?--68.238.110.58 16:05, 21 May 2006 (UTC)

Why is there an article about all 3 Turricans but none about The GREAT Gianna Sisters?--TheGreatGiannaSisters 16:10, 21 May 2006 (UTC)

Because it is spelled Great Giana Sisters

Mega Turrican and Turrican 3 Release Date

Something that seems to be uncertain in information I have found is the release date of Mega Turrican and Turrican 3. The date generally accepted for Mega Turrican is 1994 and for Turrican III 1993. There seems to be a contradiction, however.

At [2] the statement is:

Turrican 3 is a conversion of Mega Turrican (Sega Mega-Drive). Turrican 3 has better sound and music, but the graphics have less colors. Also, it´s a good bit easier.

This implies that Mega Turrican came out first, which I personally remember to be true, as Mega Turrican in the UK came out before Turrican 3 on the Amiga.

If you look at [3] the date of the box (in the UK) is definitely 1994. The Amiga box doesn't have a date sadly.

Title screen

The current article states that the title screen is similar to a Manowar album cover, and provides images to prove this. However this isn't the title screen I remember (from the Amstrad CPC version). Is it a fake/mockup, or was it changed for the different versions, possibly for copyright concerns? Cpc464 15:07, 12 October 2006 (UTC)

I definitly remember that screen from ye olde amiga days. It may have been from turrican 2 (been a while) but it definitly existed. Maybe amiga only? --80.41.217.203 17:28, 30 October 2006 (UTC)

Probably 16-bit only. It certainly doesn't appear on either of the C64 versions of the original Turrican I own. Kelvingreen 09:25, 24 November 2006 (UTC)
Problably you dont have the original C64 Version. In the Original C64 Version, you will get a speech intro, followed by the picture. While playin Music and showing the picture, the game is loading. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 87.139.55.127 (talk) 14:11, 19 April 2010 (UTC)

It is from the 16-bit (ST/Amiga) versions of Turrican I. Screenshots have been captured at Turrican SETA DaveWebster 12:06, 26 March 2007 (UTC)

Game Gear Turrican

there is a whole section in this article under the subheading "Game Gear Turrican" it was added at 12:03, 2 July 2006. i think's a pretty invaid part of this article and doesnt really add anything to it. the game is no longer in development. it is also a public domain clone and not really related to the actual game. there are no indvidual sections for the C64 version so why is there a section for this so call game gear version. i think this section should be removed from the article. --Mathsgeek 21:40, 17 December 2006 (UTC)

Super Turrican and Super Turrican 2

With these 2 games confirmed for the Virtual Console, I think somebody with knowledge of these games should start articles for both. TJ Spyke 02:54, 10 November 2007 (UTC)

I'm not sure there's enough to say about those games, specifically, that couldn't simply be included on the main Turrican page, as it is now. I'd be happy to see a page for each incarnation of and sequel to the game, but I honestly don't know if there's enough content to support it. If Super Turrican and its sequel were notable enough to have separate articles from the parent game, then they would have them already. Kelvingreen 22:27, 10 November 2007 (UTC)
Not necissarly, there were several games released on the Virtual Console that either didn't have articles or had stub articles before they were confirmed for the VC. Maybe being confirmed for the VC will encourage people to create a good article for these 2 games. TJ Spyke 02:31, 11 November 2007 (UTC)
Perhaps, and as I'd say, I'd be happy to see more info on the series, but I'm not sure there's much more to be said than is already in this article. I'm happy to be proven wrong though. Kelvingreen 11:52, 11 November 2007 (UTC)

--Merman1974 (talk) 16:43, 21 November 2007 (UTC)A separate page for the Super Turrican games sounds like a good idea, there are some significant differences (for example, the grappling arm and the power-ups) plus the very different set of levels. Super Turrican was released today on VC, at least in Europe. So someone should chance the current article to state this fact. --90.184.165.134 (talk) 17:27, 29 February 2008 (UTC)

It was just released today on the North American VC too. TJ Spyke 17:06, 3 March 2008 (UTC)
I created a Super Turrican stub article. I think this will encourage people to write more information about these games. Feel free to expand it. --77.64.134.190 (talk) 13:01, 3 November 2008 (UTC)

Most awards ever???

I have a promotional postcard from Accolade (advertising the Genesis version) that reads, in a section on design notes: "Turrican has won more international design awards than any other video game." This would be as of 1991. Now, I have no idea if that's even true or they just needed something to put on the card, but if it is accurate and we can come up with a reliable source saying so (preferably with details on which awards they are) it would certainly make a useful addition to the article. Turrican 3D

never released but so is Thornado. Why is not yet information about this projekt here?

"Escape"

I see the rumour that Outside 2 is based on "Escape" in various places from the internet, but I've yet to come across any real evidence for it. Sure, Stan Bush and Vince DiCola use a similar style of music, but I have both the Transformers soundtrack and the Turrican soundtrack (both the original TFMX files and the recently produced Soundtrack Anthology) and I just don't hear it. The only citation this article has is a fan site, which surely isn't a valid source of factual information?

I wouldn't have thought "This piece of music sounds a bit like this" is useful content for an encyclopaedia... Avalon Hamakei (talk) 21:43, 11 March 2016 (UTC)

Feel free to remove it. --Tochni (talk) 10:15, 12 March 2016 (UTC)
