Cricket people

Create articles about 19th century players who are listed in Wikipedia:WikiProject Cricket/19th century players
Create biographies about Bangladeshi players from the task force redlink list
Check the listing of key bios at Wikipedia:WikiProject Cricket/Key biographies and improve these to at least B-class.
Create batting/bowling graphs for cricketers who have excelled in international cricket.
Create articles for redlinks present here and here

Shoaib Akhtar[edit]

Shoaib Akhtar is not mentioned in the fast bowling category; he has delivered the fastest recorded ball in cricketing history, and that is not just a rumor. —Preceding unsigned comment added by One Time (talk • contribs) 21:48, 20 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Firstly Shoaib Akhtar is mentioned, secondly it's a pretty strong 'rumour' that Jeff Thomson went past 100 mph and he probably did it multiple times as well, I don't see why you should criticise Thommo simply because speed guns weren't prevalent at the time. It's also good to remember that the guns are unreliable, the one at Lord's this summer has 'tuned' bowlers up with Broad clocked at 92 mph against the Windies and Bresnan a fast-medium bowler, with emphasis on medium, in the high 80s consistently. No one's criticising Thomson, but it's not reasonable to label him as the 'fastest ever' without proof. Several other bowlers have been labelled the fastest ever, including Harold Larwood, Michael Holding, Shaun Tait, and Shoaib Akhtar. Only Tait and Akhtar have speeds recorded with modern technology, but even then there is doubt because the ICC don't oversee speed gun calibration.
