Willier[edit]

Does anyone know when Lampre-Caffita switched from Cannondale to Willier? It seems like Cannondale is still selling L-C team replica bikes and I think Willier is now sponsoring 2 (two!) teams in the pro tour (Lampre and Cofidis). It must have been recent, but I'd like more details if anyone else is more familiar with this. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 209.218.206.2 (talk) 17:22, July 19, 2006

Article name[edit]

We have a new problem here. Lampre-Fondital has been renamed Lampre. However, there is already a page at Lampre so we can't move the page there. I set up the Lampre page a while ago as a disambiguation page because there seems to be three distinct teams (first from 1991 to 1996, second from 1999 to 2004 and the third from 2005). We could argue over whether the second incarnation is different from the third, but clearly the first and second are different teams so need dealing with separately. So I'm not really sure where this article should be moved (and the guidelines for disambiguation don't give much help), the best I can think of is Lampre (2005- cycling team) or Lampre (current cycling team) or perhaps putting UCI ProTour in there somewhere, such as Lampre (UCI ProTour cycling team) or just Lampre (UCI ProTour). This also raises the issue of the Lampre page. I feel the edits done to it in the summer aren't really helpful because they confuse the issue of having three (or two?) different teams. In our articles, we have time and again set the idea the team is more important that the sponsor, so articles follow team names and so on. I think we would be better having a disambiguation page at Lampre, with information about sponsorship (also other sports etc) moved to a different page, either at Lampre (company) or Lampre (sponsorship). As you might be able to guess, I write at length because I have no idea if my ideas are any good! Regards, SeveroTC 17:10, 31 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Another option would be to merge both articles like someone did with Bianchi cycling team (although the teams from 1899 and 2000s have nothing in common!). But the disambiguation page looks like the better option right now (and use Lampre (cycling team) for the current Lampre team.--Drunt (talk) 18:43, 31 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
The problem with using Lampre (cycling team) is that they are all cycling teams, so it doesn't disambiguate. SeveroTC 19:34, 31 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
How about this: The Lampre article talks about the various Lampre teams. It states that the company Lampre is the major sponsor, but doesn't actually note what the company makes. We should probably rectify that. I propose a bit of a re-write so that it says who the company are and what they do. Then it should quickly list the cycling teams(s) that the company has sponsored over the years. The current list would suffice.
At the moment Lampre (cycling team) redirects to the Lampre article. We should make this the main article for the team, and not a redirect.
Lampre-Fondital is the page that talks about the current team. The text on this page should be moved to the Lampre (cycling team) article, with Lampre-Fondital becoming a redirect. As far as I can tell the easiest way to move this page would be a cut and paste of the text, as the name that we'd move the page to already exists. Otherwise we'd have to engage an admin to do a merge or something.
Lampre-Caffita currently redirects to Lampre-Fondital. Change the redirect to Lampre (cycling team).
Lampre-Daikin is a short article by itself. The information could probably be incorporated into the Lampre page, as it is only two sentences with a citation needed note.
What do you think? kju (talk) 13:22, 1 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
The problem is the article names don't tell you what to expect from the article, they are too ambiguous. Both Lampre and Lampre (cycling team) describe them all. The main issue is what we do with the Lampre page. We could either make it a sparse disambiguation page, or make it into a "set index article" (like Dodge Charger) which may be the way to go. Either way, Lampre-Fondital needs to find a more appropriate page name, and I'm leaning towards something with ProTour in it such as Lampre (UCI ProTour). SeveroTC 14:16, 3 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
At least put in that the company Lampre is a sheet metal manufacturer. kju (talk) 00:00, 4 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
