Background[edit]

The first sentence of the section says "This event will be featured as a non pay-per-view numbered event in the United States for the first time since UFC 138 in 2011."

I added "This event will take place in the evening in Abu Dhabi, which will be morning and afternoon in North America." before that sentence and "UFC President Dana White said he hopes the event will air on ABC." after.

Cassiopeia deleted them with an edit summary that said "Unsourced and Wikipedia is not only for the US residents". I can add a source, but is there any other problem? That first sentence is all about America, but my first sentence wasn't. I think the info I added is good.--Killashaw (talk) 23:16, 7 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Killashaw Pls note the date would be the local date as per WP:MOS. Secondly, White says many things and what White says is considered primary source. In Wikipedia we used secondary source. Lastly, not all sourced content is added to a page, for the info need to important and relevant. Cassiopeia talk 02:56, 8 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  1. There are no dates in those sentences.
  2. This is the source: UFC 267 will air on ABC if Dana White has his way]
  3. Are you saying you think this isn't relevant? Killashaw (talk) 17:59, 14 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Killashaw, When the press (independent, reliable sources) announced the event would be aired on ABC, then we will record it. Not what White said for he is the primary source especially on the ground of "if he would have his way". Remember Wikipedia is not a news site but an encylopedia. Cassiopeia talk 01:36, 15 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I looked up the primary sources and secondary sources that you're writing about and the policy doesn't say not to use primary sources, just that they shouldn't be used in certain ways. What I added isn't any of those ways. Killashaw (talk) 17:41, 18 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Killashaw, Primary sources can only be added in very sparingly and certain ways. What Dana said is crystal and he says many things and we dont record info from him as it is not only primary but also not independent and primary and not indedpendent sources can not be contribute to the notability of the page. Pls wait until press (independent and reliable sources) announced it prior editing. Cassiopeia talk 01:58, 19 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
There are thousands and thousands of primary source quotes (or paraphrases by reliable sources of quotes) in Wikipedia. There are some specific ways that you aren't supposed to use them: WP:PRIMARY. Do you think that sentence I added is using them one of those ways?Killashaw (talk) 20:42, 21 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Killashaw Frist of all, please ping so I may receive a notification of your message. - see Template:PING for instruction. Secondly, direct quote from primary sourced be used and it only used is sparingly and for certain important/singification info; However, no all sourced content should be added to the article especially by the President of the promotion for White says many things everyday and we dont put the info in the article. See all the past event page and observe the norm of the edit for Wikipedia is an enclyopedia. When the info is announced by the press, then we add them in. Stay safe and best. Cassiopeia talk 00:47, 22 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
There is no rule that quotes should be used "sparingly" and they aren't. Dana White is the UFC President and main spokesman and his statements are justifiably in dozens of articles. @Cassiopeia: show me the policy to back up what you keep writing about using primary sources.Killashaw (talk) 18:32, 23 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
For a article to be notable, the subject needs to be have significant coverage with independent, relaible sources where by the soruces talk about the subject tin length and in dept. and not passing mentioned. Dana is the President of UFC and that make the source not independent. We dont put what is crystal by the promotion. If is not an important direct quote and we only put important direct quote sparingly, image the article is full of quotes, that would not make an article for this is Wikipedia and Wikipedia is an enclyopedia. We wait for the press announcement. I have explained many times, you need to learn more about the norm and guidelines to understand and as I have suggest pls observe how things work. If you put back the content, other editors will removed it. Cassiopeia talk 03:17, 24 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
An article has to have significant coverage by independent, reliable sources, but using primary sources in addition to those does not reduce its notability. @Cassiopeia: I have asked you over and over to show me the policy to back up what you keep writing about using quotes and primary sources sparingly and you can't. If you think other editors will remove those sentences why don't we put them back and see if another editor will do it and maybe join this discussion?Killashaw (talk) 17:27, 25 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Cassiopeia: Since you haven't argued against the first sentence I added about the time, I'll put that back in. The UFC will probably announce where it'll be broadcast soon, so I can wait for that.Killashaw (talk) 21:38, 4 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Killashaw Sorry for the late reply. Ok We wait for the press to announced it. Btw this is not a argument but a discussion. Have a good day and take care. Cassiopeia talk 22:47, 4 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

The article features no mention of the Welterweight bout between Chimaev and Jingliang. Which is one of the Performance of the Night by the way. Lilgreg97one (talk) 03:05, 1 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
