Wachusett tows Holt, a sea story[edit]

During September of 1962 USS Holt (DE-706 was being towed from Stockton, CA to Seattle, WA by USS Tatnuk (ATA-195). Tatnuk's towline parted in a storm off Umatilla Reef, WA. A USCG 85 foot patrol boat went to assist Tatnuk. Wachusett also assisted by taking the tow into the Strait of Juan de Fuca. Tatnuk then resumed the tow to Seattle, WA.
