The (more extensive) German version of this page contains an attempt to link Frau Schmidt to prostitution and organised crime. Facts are: she did nothing illegal, and none of the people named in various scandals linked to her were ever convicted. In any case, this episode from about 35 years ago is not relevant. All attempts to change the text are thwarted, showing that someone has not just an interest in his or her version of the story, but even goes to extremes to protect it. A recent addition concerning the official car scandal was removed on the grounds of WP:NOT#NEWS and a discussion at German Wikipedia. In fact, as this article (for example) shows, the current scandal is having wide-ranging consequences for Schmidt's career and for the predicted success of the SPD in the upcoming Bundestag elections. +Angr 06:17, 31 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
