UnitedMasters is an American artist services and music distribution company, founded in 2017^[1] by Steve Stoute. UnitedMasters operates as a subsidiary of Translation Enterprises Inc, with offices in both New York and San Francisco.

UnitedMasters provides digital distribution, marketing services and data analytics, enabling artists to maintain full ownership over their master recording rights while also facilitating partnerships between them and brands. UnitedMasters has relationships with every major online retailer and DSP, including Spotify, Apple Music, iTunes, Pandora, SoundCloud, Amazon Music, Google Play and more.

On Nov 9, 2018 UnitedMasters announced ^[2] that their artists would be the exclusive providers of music to the NBA going forward as part of an expansive partnership with the league^[3]. This opportunity created a direct line between artists distributing with UnitedMasters and the NBA’s social community of 1.5 billion fans across NBA.com, the NBA App, and league and team social media accounts on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, TikTok, Twitch and Snapchat. ^[4]

History[edit]

Steve Stoute established UnitedMasters a year ago as an alternative to record labels, securing $70 million in funding from Andreessen Horowitz, 20th Century Fox and Alphabet. ^[5] The investors received stakes in both the new outfit and Stoute's long-standing branding company, Translation, which operates under the same umbrella.

N The claims regarding UM's relationships with other retailers and DSP were not added, as they were unreferenced.
N The information regarding the announcement of a partnership with the NBA concerns future events which generally are not to be added to articles, per WP:NOTACRYSTALBALL. A description of an event such as the signing of a deal regarding the NBA alliance would not count under that guidance and would be acceptable, as any discussion regarding the signing of a deal after it has been signed becomes past history and not a future occurrence.
