Organization Closure[edit]

At the 2012 convention the Submarine Veterans of World War II decided to disband the organization. The decision was not an easy one and those Submarine Veterans attending the 2012 Submarine Veterans Convention from all eras of submarine operations bestowed great respect and honor for those World War II veterans attending.

The reasons for disbanding the organization was due to the advanced age of the members, the youngest member being in his 80'. The amount of effort required to run an organization such as this was cited as being too great so close to the end of their lives.

Contrary to the title of this article the members were not 'forced', however seeing no easy way to continue as the organization can not gain new members it was decided to disband.
