Is UMM a suitable title[edit]

Universal measuring machine could mean many things (over the years). Various UMM products eg Universal measuring machine, Societe Genevoise Universal Measuring Machine. - Universal Measuring Machine (Metrology) is interesting but has no sources. - Rod57 (talk) 10:30, 4 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Maybe the text is mostly about the Moore UMM (~1951) (as here) and the article title should change to "Moore Universal measuring machine" or the intro should clarify that the article is about just the Moore products called "Universal measuring machine". How different are non-Moore UMM ? - Rod57 (talk) 10:30, 4 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Much of the text could be from the 1970 W.R.Moore book "Foundations of mechanical accuracy" but it would be nice to be sure which bits. - Rod57 (talk) 10:30, 4 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Images[edit]

Moore No. 3 Universal Measuring Machine has an image. - Rod57 (talk) 10:06, 4 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Unclear description[edit]

A few images depicting possible setups illustrating degrees of freedom, and sensor locations, and dataflow or output would be very helpfull... — Preceding unsigned comment added by 83.134.178.122 (talk) 10:18, 5 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Format[edit]

The in theory/vs in practice format seems biased and requires references — Preceding unsigned comment added by 128.61.110.209 (talk) 19:36, 4 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
