GA Review[edit]

I'm going to have to fail this article GA nomination, mainly due to referencing issues, but also due to myriad MOS problems. Here is a list of some of the problems I found on a quick run through of the article:

  • Severe under-referencing. Some sections have no references at all, most are at least partially unreferenced, and there are multiple fact tags (including one in place since 2007).
  • Web references should be consistently formatted, with only the title linked, and including publishers and access dates.
  • Book references should be formatted with publishers and publication dates
  • There should be no external links in the body of the article itself, such as there are in the lead, in the Student life section and in the Outreach section. Instead, they should become refs or be put in the external links section.
  • What makes Shanghai Jiao Tong University a reliable source for Top 100 University stats?
  • The Notable people section should probably be turned into a See also section, since all it contains is a link.
  • There should be no bolding in the body of the article, as there is in the Undergraduate colleges section.
  • The lead should be simply a summary of the entire article; it should include no new information and therefore no references. For an article this length, the lead should be at least two paragraphs and preferably three solid paragraphs.

When these issues have been fixed, please consider renominating the article for GA. Please note that the above is not a comprehensive review, and I didn't even start a review of the prose, so simply fixing these issues will not assure you of GA status. If you have any questions, please feel free to drop me a note on my talk page. Dana boomer (talk) 18:54, 8 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
