Actually, I think you'll find the guidance changed in April 2009. See the discussion here. It now reads:

In England, place names requiring disambiguation should go under [[placename, ceremonial county]], although for districts and suburbs within towns and cities, [[placename, Town/City]] should be used.

I was going to suggest that you click on the coordinates to get the exact location - but I did that and found they were wrong! I've now corrected the coordinates, and if you go there you can see that Upton is in the town, within a mile of the centre of Slough. I think that the intent of the guidance must be that anywhere within the boundaries of a town which is a borough would be a district or suburb of that town, i.e. it is an objective test. --Mhockey (talk) 20:36, 6 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I think that's what the guidance means, yes. So Langley, Berkshire should also be moved, but Ditton, Slough and Huntercombe, Slough should stay. --Mhockey (talk) 21:07, 6 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Support Regardless of general guidance, Upton (Berkshire) is ambiguous - it could mean Upton (was Bucks now Berks) or Upton (was Berks now Oxon). Upton (Slough) is unambiguous. I haven't checked, but has anyone looked at how the articles for Hale (Cheshire was Lancashire, and Greater Manchester was Cheshire) are handled? Support -- Since Upton is one of the communities that formed what is now the centre of Slough, modern Upton (if that isn't a contradiction in terms) is very much 'in' Slough. I would oppose moving Langley, though (as, I suspect, would most of the residents of Langley!), as it is a much larger and more distinct area (although I haven't checked the official guidance). -- EdJogg (talk) 09:28, 18 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
