This article seems to contradict itself... first it says that a true V5 engine is impossible to construct, then ends the article saying that Honda recently used a V5 motorcycle engine. Is this a true V5, or something similar to the VW VR6? 128.153.220.166 04:36, 28 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It is not true that it is impossible to construct a true V5 engine. The latest VW V5 is exactly that - it is a V5 with one cylinder missing - that is, it has two heads, not one as in a staggered inline 5. The crank isn't paired with Left/Right bank pistons like a V6. It is a sequential crank like an inline 5. The paired cylinder concept only applies to engines that use paired opposing pistons to achieve counterbalance.218.215.130.148 14:22, 20 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
