COI tag (April 2021)[edit]

The creating editor has declared a conflict of interest on their use page. Ian this diff they appear to have declared that their intention is to disregard the rules and to edit this page FiddleTimtrent FaddleTalk to me 15:44, 19 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

This is simply not the truth, the person who wrote the above statement is harassing me and making false statements online. i will be reporting this to higher management for being untruthful and in breach of the wikipedia code of conduct. i never declared that i would disregard the rules and i informed the bully that i have in fact disclosed my conflict of interest and respected all the rules.
online bullying must stop right now! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Aïssa 93 390 (talkcontribs) 17:11, 20 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Aïssa 93 390 Please go ahead. First, tell me, please, which of your own words are you saying are untrue? FiddleTimtrent FaddleTalk to me 18:35, 20 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Aargh, edit conflict.
(ec) @Aïssa 93 390:
  1. Please sign your posts with ~~~~. Or you may be interested in the beta feature Discussion Tools which makes replying easier and signs for you.
  2. If you're more involved than just an interested member then it would help to give extra detail on your user page so that we know where you're coming from (e.g. activist volunteer work?). For now, I'll assume "interested member" covers it (see my comment to Tim below).
  3. Your current user-page declaration doesn’t reflect your position in the organisation.
  4. Bullying and harassment are patterns of repeated inappropriate treatment. You may want to consider whether the current situation meets the definition before talking to "higher management".

(ec) @Timtrent:
  1. Being a member of a union isn't in the same league as being an official or a branch organiser.
  2. In the linked diff, Aïssa says to Curb Safe Charmer "i disagree with your interpretation of the rules", that's very different from intending to "disregard the rules".
  3. Only WP:PAID editors are required to go through edit requests, others may edit directly so long as their interest is declared.

Oh, facepalm, I just saw in the infobox who's on the steering committee. Pelagicmessages ) – (06:19 Wed 21, AEDT) 19:19, 20 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
P.S. If either of you are wondering how I came to be here, it’s amazing what one sees when filtering recent changes for talk-page reverts and section blanking. I’m not watching this page, please ping me in replies. Pelagicmessages ) – (06:16 Wed 21, AEDT) 19:16, 20 April 2021 (::UTC)
@Pelagic Thank you for your point 3 to me. That is obviously something I need to check. You may wish to red the COI noticeboard, though, where there is more to this matter, obviously after the event FiddleTimtrent FaddleTalk to me 19:21, 20 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Pelagic regarding your point 3 I see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest#COIADVICE which seems to me to state by omission that this class of edit is the sole class a General COI editor may make. I will welcome correction. FiddleTimtrent FaddleTalk to me 19:27, 20 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Pelagic Thank you for your feedback, i will apply all three points you made available to me to the best of my knowledge. I looked up the wikipedia article for signing with ~~~~ and also the article to ping a user, i am still unsure i understood them perfectly but i will do my best to follow all the wikipedia rules and articles. To give some context, i was a simple member of the Union until the last election during which i was elected to the steering committee. I should mention that the Steering Committee is not a decision making body but rather a group of members who volunteer to help with the administrative part of the Vancouver Tenants Union. We are all volunteers here and all we are trying to do is inform citizens of our existence and our mission is to help the most vulnerable citizens in the community. That being said, i have zero personal interest in this, i am a simple citizen trying to help the community. Aïssa 93 390 (talk) 20:12, 20 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
