What is an African-American accent? I need some clarification here. At best, this sounds like a misquote...I hope so at least. At a minimum, I don't think it should be noted here without any analysis or additional information.

Different English-speakers in different regions and different cultures have different dialects and different accents (e.g. America's 'Old South', Boston, New Zealand, South Africa). Blacks in America (often called 'African-Americans') have a distinctive dialect and accent. As an example, one easily recognized feature of this accent is its use of a non-rhotic 'r'. Hope this helps.

is chatman black? one picture i saw seems to suggest that he is, however several other pics show him as being a white guy.

Vernon is half and half. His mother is white and his father is black.

Orphaned references in Vernon Chatman[edit]

I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of Vernon Chatman's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.
