Biography rewrite proposed[edit]

The Victorio page needs some tender editing for the English version.

Long sentence changed[edit]

"In 1853 he was considered a chief or sub chief by the United States Army and signed a document. In his twenties, he rode with the great Mangas Coloradas, leader of the Coppermine band of the Tchihendeh people and principal leader of the whole Tchihendeh Apache division (who seized him as his son-in-law), of and Cuchillo Negro, leader of the Warm Springs band of the Tchihendeh people and second principal leader of the whole Tchihendeh Apache division, as well as did Nana, Delgadito, Cochise, Juh, Geronimo and other Apache leaders."

  • Victorio rode with Mangas Coloradas who was the principle leader of four bands of Chihenne (sometimes called Mimbreos). In the 1850s, Victorio was probably the leader of sub band of the Chihenne. When Mangas Coloradas was murdered in 1855 and Cuchillo Negro in 1857, Delgadito became the the principle leader of the Chihenne. When miners attacked a ranchero of Chihenne in 1860, Victorio and lost faith in the United States government promises of protection. He led his band on raids and avoided the military. After 1864 there was no clear single leader of the Chihenne bands. However, Victorio's influence increased among the Chihenne.

So where to go from here to Victorio's death in Mexico? To be continued.Rcollman (talk) 12:12, 1 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Earth First link[edit]

The reference to the monument belongs, the links to EarthFirst should stay, but the source citation does not. With due respect "the howling" link compares Victorio actions with Earth First actions. It does not say exactly where the momument is just "Dave and the gang erected a monument in New Mexico to Victorio". --Rcollman 13:51, 11 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
