Notability and Sourcing[edit]

Much like the article on Dr. Haas's colleague, Dr. Perrucci, this article raises concerns about the sourcing used and the notability of the individual covered. The sourcing is clearly problematic, as it is entirely composed of newspaper articles, obituaries, and Dr. Haas's dissertation. The notability may be argued, but as of right now, based on the content of the article and the lack of additional information, it seems to me that it is fairly clear it does not meet guidelines listed in Wikipedia:Notability (academics). Any additional comments or thoughts would be appreciated! nf utvol (talk) 12:48, 19 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I have some sympathy with this comment and so deletion would likely not be uncontroversial hence PROD is unsuitable. The references are not all primary (but may have other shortcomings). The general motability guidelines need to be considered as well as those for academics. Thincat (talk) 12:29, 21 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Which articles are you referencing that aren't primary? They are all either local newspaper clippings, obituaries, the subject's disseration, or the single case of a biography from the institution where she taught. It's my understanding that all of those would be considered primary sources. What other general notability guidelines should be considered other than those for an academic?nf utvol (talk) 00:54, 22 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Procedural close. Shifting to AfD. Apologies for the misuse!

Does the subject of this article meet the Wikipedia:Notability (biography) or Wikipedia:Notability (academics) guidelines? nf utvol (talk) 01:11, 22 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Does not seem like she qualifies under academic notability. Unclear that the award she is noted as receiving was major. I would say no. Cynistrategus (talk) 02:41, 22 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

  • Why is this not at AfD instead of RfC? -Kj cheetham (talk) 18:28, 22 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Wrong forum - An RFC is not used to question notability. Robert McClenon (talk) 23:32, 22 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

  • Comment - This is one of two pseudo-RFCs that the filer has used to ask about notability when AFD is in order. Robert McClenon (talk) 23:44, 22 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment: Closing per above. Apologies for the misuse of the RfC process! nf utvol (talk) 23:53, 22 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
