Don't you think it would be better to move it back to "Violin concerto (Barber)" since firstly, every other violin concerto on wikipedia is under "Violin concerto (Composer)," and secondly, "violin concerto" is not so much a title as a genre description, and comes more under convention than actual fact. I mean, we don't put Brahms's concerto under "Violinkonzert (Brahms)". Cheers. --Quadalpha 16:14, 24 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

That's not true, though- every other concerto here is under Violin Concerto (composer) - note caps. This is the only one on my watchlist under, rather than above, "Violin concerto". The name as it was before the two moves was the right one, because of the site manual of style: Violin Concerto (Barber). Schissel | Sound the Note! 14:32, 15 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
All the links point to Violin Concerto (Barber) as well. DavidRF 16:53, 12 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I think it's a problem that Violin Concerto (Barber) does not come up in response to a search for "Barber Violin Concerto." that search gave two pages about the casts of ballets that have been performed to this piece but no listing of the name of the page that actually discusses the concerto. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.194.34.254 (talk) 10:44, 20 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Note that http://www.isobriselli.com/ flatly contradicts the account repeated here, and claims it was a fiction invented by Nathan Broder for his 1954 book. Someone with more expertise than me should revise, or perhaps mention the controversy. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 142.244.163.79 (talk) 21:12, 23 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Did something get dropped?[edit]

"Herbert Baumel was known to be an excellent sight reader, and he was asked to study the finale for a couple of hours, then to join him in pianist Josef Hofmann's studio. After reviewing the music, Baumel went to the studio to discover an audience of Barber (now teaching at Curtis), Gian Carlo Menotti, Mary Louise Curtis Bok (founder of the Curtis Institute), and a friend of Mrs. Bok." - okay, and then what happened? This appears to have lead to some sort or performance or discussion or what? HammerFilmFan (talk) 14:35, 30 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Break History into short account and add Controversy[edit]

I wonder if this would not be improved for most readers by having the History section reduced to a good paragraph, and the bulk of it moved to a new Controversy section at the end. As is, History is a bit of a whale that eclipses the Violin Concerto itself. jb (talk) 00:02, 3 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
