Assessment[edit]

I gave this article a quick look-see to see if it can be upgraded. I think it can be upgraded from Stub class to Start class. The article addresses a notable issue, and currently provides enough balance and neutral point of view, e.g. presents both positive and negative reviews of the book. Specific suggestions: Citations to particular pages of the text need to be added throughout. I don't know what the Sfn template is, but it doesn't seem to go anywhere. Need to use inclusive language throughout; I understand that Sullivan used the terms gay, homosexual, and he to include both women and men, but Wikipedia needs to use inclusive language. I started adding this, but didn't get very far. I did put a note at the beginning explaining Sullivan's preface. I think that after a little more work addressing these issues, that we should take another look at the article. The sfn template is widely used in articles; for example, it is used in the articles Sexual Preference (book), The Homosexual Matrix, and Sexual Desire (book), all of which now have good article status. There is no problem associated with using it in this article. It is important to keep the citation style consistent, and so long as the sfn template is used here, no other citation style should be used. I do not know what you mean by saying that the template "doesn't seem to go anywhere." If what you mean is that when you click on a citation in the article, it does not take you to the appropriate footnote in the References section, then my response is that that's not my experience. The citations work fine for me. While your addition to the lead about Sullivan's use of pronouns was made in good faith, I don't think it is necessary. Per WP:LEAD, the lead is only a summary of the most important points of an article's topic; the precise way Sullivan uses pronouns is definitely not one of them. Taking care of the request for assessment backlog. The article was set up on October 26, 2017.

B1: The article is suitably referenced, with inline citations. All statements are referenced with a diversity of sources. The style is consistent throughout the article. passed

B2: The article reasonably covers the topic, and does not contain obvious omissions or inaccuracies. The article covers all topics which can reasonably be expected. An additional topic would be the influence a book has on other people's work if there is any. passed

B3: The article has a defined structure. The article is structured within reason. passed

B4: The article is reasonably well-written. Everything is written as it can be expected from a B-Class article. passed
