TDI Coloured nubers[edit]

The "TDI" letters do not require colors as they have no relevance to the model/power. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 83.104.50.193 (talk) 15:42, 14 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Jetta/Bora section[edit]

It appears to me that the Jetta/Bora section is a mix of information relating to the Jetta/Bora version and the standard Mk 4 Golf 3/5 door, also the station wagon/Varient/Kombi 5 door version. This should probably be sort out somehow.--TGC55 (talk) 12:34, 5 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hey fatso, this is a German car[edit]

All the units should be metric, KW rather than BHP, Km rather than miles etc. "Sedan" should be used to refer to U.S. models only, with saloon being the correct term for european models, as volkswagen refers to them in that fashion. I couldn't be BOTHERED making these changes and shouldn't have to just because some American is ignorant; Someone else do it. NOW! 86.44.204.200 (talk) 23:38, 11 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Does Launch Date need to be ammended??[edit]

This article is incorrect right from the first sentence. The VW Golf was available from 1997 (I know I had one!). and Was discontinued in 2004. These were the dates for Europe anyway. I think this article is written from a (groan..) American point of view (although it doesn't specify) which surely isn't as relevant for a GERMAN car! — Preceding unsigned comment added by P8rsn (talkcontribs) 22:11, 8 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

This is right. Production in the Wolfsburg plant started in late 1997 (October) with the 4-door version. The standard model (2/4 door hatchback) was discontinued in 06-2004, with the "Kombi"(station wagon) version, introduced in summer 1999 (maybe this is what the article has in mind when indicating 07-1999 as the start of production) living two years longer than the hatchback (production of the latter was completed in summer 2006). This however refers to the european market, to my knowledge the Golf IV is still being produced in Volkswagen plants overseas to date, mainly in its 4-door sedan version ("Bora" in Europe) (v.mudra 25/09/2013 20:18 CET). — Preceding unsigned comment added by 77.22.171.90 (talk) 18:18, 25 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
