Agreed. I feel I should almost blank the entire article and leave it at "a volley occurs when the ball is struck mid-air". That's all a volley is. It's not a chip shot like one of the examples in the articl, but a bicycle shot could be considered a volley. Also, it doesn't matter where the goalie is, as the term volley refers to where the ball is (in the air) when it is kicked. You don't have to be shooting for it to be a volley, so why is that even mentioned? I want to link to this page in another article, but I'm afraid to do so after seeing this mess. Since you share my sentiment (and it was 2 years ago) I'm going to be bold and take a hachet to this article.167.7.17.3 (talk) 13:40, 8 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
