According to our article on Strombolian eruptions, Paricutin was of that type, so not so explosive as a Vulcanian. Mikenorton (talk) 21:25, 12 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
But this image looks very much like a Vulcanian eruption and not at all like a Strombolian eruption. (The article says that Vulcanian eruptions are "characterised by a dense cloud of ash-laden gas exploding from the crater and rising high above the peak", and that fits the description of Parícutin perfectly.) --The High Fin Sperm Whale (talk) 01:07, 16 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
The schematic picture is the exact same as for Strombolian Eruptions. Apparently it has been uploaded twice with the name (Vulcanian or Strombolian) matching the respective article and the rest equivalent.
