Proposed merger[edit]

After December 31, 2010, WSFM (FM) will no longer exist. The speculation is that WUIN will move to the old WSFM frequency, and based on what I have been told, the history of the station should go with the call letters, not the frequency.

At one time, the history of WSFM and its predecessor WJYW were in this article because they were at 107.5. That would seem to make the most sense, because WAZO does not have a long history. We could just have two sections: one on the history of 107.5 (and 107.1 before that), and one on the history of 98.3 prior to 2011.Vchimpanzee · talk · contributions · 18:51, 9 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Well, this is weird. The owners of "The Penguin" seem to have let the call letters that would reflect that format get away. Right now the articles for WMYT (FM) and WSFM look weird. I have been told the history of the radio station goes with the call letters or at least the name, not the frequency. If the WUIN letters don't move here, I want to propose deleting all the history of The Penguin from the WMYT (FM) article and merging the text in the WSFM (FM) article, while all pre-2011 history of the 98.3 frequency goes to WAZO.Vchimpanzee · talk · contributions · 19:34, 6 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

You know, come to think of it, if the WSFM letters don't change, what I'm proposing is exactly what SHOULDN'T be done. Another possibility is merging the pre-2011 content of WMYT (FM) here and having a section for The Penguin as well as one for the pre-2011 history of WSFM, even that from its 107.5 days. Naturally, the history on 107.1 would stay in WSFM (FM) as well.Vchimpanzee · talk · contributions · 20:01, 6 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I have copied (and revised slightly) the above text into Talk:WSFM (FM) because the current merger proposal may become meaningless.Vchimpanzee · talk · contributions · 20:13, 6 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

New situation: WSFM (FM) is now WUIN. This strongly suggests the defunct WSFM should have its history here, since it was once on 107.5. It makes more sense to put WUIN's history in the WUIN (FM) article.Vchimpanzee · talk · contributions · 15:04, 13 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
