Is Encarta a reliable source? - Dravecky (talk) 02:52, 20 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  • "Mississippi: Communications". Encarta. Retrieved June 19, 2009. The first radio station in Mississippi, currently known as WFOR, began operations as WDBT at Hattiesburg in 1925.
  • WDBT is listed as being first licensed in June 1924 to Taylor's Book Store in Hattiesburg ("New Stations", Radio Service Bulletin, July 1924, page 3.) But it was deleted in April 1925 and never revived. ("Strike out all particulars", Radio Service Bulletin, May 1, 1925, page 9.) WFOR wasn't authorized (as WRBJ) until March 1928, and was licensed to the Woodruff Furniture Co. ("New Stations", Radio Service Bulletin, March 31, 1928, page 4.) Also, the FCC History Cards for WFOR don't mention any link to WDBT.--Thomas H. White (talk) 00:06, 3 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Lots of info on WFOR (AM), including some great stuff on Jimmy Swan. - Dravecky (talk) 10:27, 5 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
