Article name

I have moved this article back to WSMH from WSMH-TV. Consensus on both WP:NC#Broadcasting and Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Television_Stations#Article_names is that the article name should reflect the actual call letters of the TV station. As can be seen here: [1] the call letters for this station are in fact WSMH. Any concerns regarding this topic would be best addressed here: Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Television_Stations. Fair use rationale for Image:Wsmh news.jpg

Image:Wsmh news.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Image copyright problem with Image:Wnem dt2 anchors.png

The image Image:Wnem dt2 anchors.png is used in this article under a claim of fair use, but it does not have an adequate explanation for why it meets the requirements for such images when used here. In particular, for each page the image is used on, it must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for the use in this article.
  • That this article is linked to from the image description page.

The following images also have this problem:

Subchannels

I agree there are 2 subchannels. 1 is the station is 720p HD the other is in 480i SD. Most FOX affiliates do this (WJBK does as well). I can take a screenshot to prove this if you like. TomCat4680 (talk) 11:56, 26 December 2009 (UTC)

I just rescanned a digital TV tuner hooked up to an outdoor antenna. There is no channel 66.2 currently. Steelbeard1 (talk) 13:17, 26 December 2009 (UTC)
There is on my tuner. I have a DirecTV AM21. TomCat4680 (talk) 14:01, 26 December 2009 (UTC)
Satellite TV is not the same as over-the-air TV. If you live within range of the WSMH tower outside Chesaning, try picking up that signal. Steelbeard1 (talk) 14:04, 26 December 2009 (UTC)
I'm not using the satellite feed. The AM21 is the exact same thing as a digital converter box, it hooks up to my rooftop antenna and receives the signal over the air. DirecTV doesn't offer subchannels via satellite, you have to use your own antenna with the AM21. TomCat4680 (talk) 14:06, 26 December 2009 (UTC)
The AM21 may convert TV aspect ratios from HD to SD. I use a plain old digital broadcast converter box, a Philco TB100HH9. Steelbeard1 (talk) 14:16, 26 December 2009 (UTC)

Also, look at the Titan TV broadcast listings for the Detroit market, there are two active subchannels for WJBK. If you look at the Flint listings, for some funny reason, they list WSMH's main channel as 16.1. While 66.2 was used in the past, it is still shown but is indicated as off the air. Steelbeard1 (talk) 14:27, 26 December 2009 (UTC)

My AM21 shows 66.1 (720p HD) AND 66.2 (480i SD) for WSMH. Maybe WSMH feeds 66.2 to basic cable system customers without HD service. TomCat4680 (talk) 19:02, 26 December 2009 (UTC)

GetTV

WSMH has just added GetTV and put it on channel 66.3 replacing the ZUUS country music channel. But the Get TV web site at [2] shows it on channel 66.2. I wonder if the subchannel choice of 66.3 is permanent or temporary. Steelbeard1 (talk) 13:03, 2 July 2014 (UTC)

It was temporary. ZUUS is back on 66.3 and GetTV is on channel 66.2 just like their web site stated. Steelbeard1 (talk) 22:21, 2 July 2014 (UTC)
