Title Deactivated in March 1976???

Bobo Brazil was announced at a 10/25/76 WWWF house show as the US Champion. The match, vs. Doug "Gashouse" Gilbert, did not appear to be a title match. Here is a link to the video wherein Bobo's championship status is announced: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dpG5dUDdh1w&ab_channel=TheCRAZYCAT68

Championship debut[edit]

Several sources - seemingly copied from this article in one form or another - concur that the history of this title begins on 6th April 1963, with some saying it was in California. However, TheHistoryOfWWE.com claims Bobo Brazil was in Baltimore, MD that day fighting Buddy Rogers (though does name him as WWWF US Champion for the first time at that point). Further, Wrestling-Titles.com claims it began on or before 9th October 1962. Is there any more information about this, and do changes need to be made to reflect this ambiguity? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Morogth (talkcontribs) 13:56, 30 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

There may be bloodlines back to the version Buddy Rogers held for Capitol Wrestling back in 1960-1961, although the championship belt for that was used as the original WWWF World championship belt (the one stolen from Bruno's car in 1965.) Romomusicfan (talk) 11:37, 24 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
