"Best known"

Yes, @PainMan:, I can very well argue that preceding a list of ten films with "best known for" is a subjective, unsourced addition that doesn't belong here under WP:OR and WP:NPOV. Largoplazo (talk) 13:49, 29 December 2020 (UTC)

I must have done 10,000 edits by now and this is the most absurd reason for a reversion I've ever seen. If these are NOT the man's best known roles, why are they listed in the INTRO to the article?

So I'm reverting this again. If you want to take it to Arbitration, be my guest. I'm not backing down. It's attitudes like this that make so many people hate wikipedia.

@PainMan: They are listed in the lead because somebody, or various people, chose those films to list in the lead. For you to base your characterization of them as his best known films on the idea that "Other Wikipedians listed these in the lead" is absurd, as other Wikipedians are not a reliable source. It is also absurd that you even feel the need to characterize them at all. Is there some reason not to label them "best known" unless you have reliable sources supporting the assertion that these are the best known? And it's absurd that you draw my attention to WP:3R after not having bothered with WP:BRD. And it's absurd that you feel so strongly that the are objectively his best know films, each of these ten over every one of the others, that you are making this big a stink out of it instead of discussing it before reintroducing it into the article.
So can you please approach this objectively and not based on outrage over supposed pedanticism and absurdity? If you do not provide a reliable source, I will eventually remove it again and then, fine, you can go to arbitration and demand that these films be characterized collectively as his best known without you having a shred of a reliable source to support that contention. How well do you think that will go over? Largoplazo (talk) 17:37, 29 December 2020 (UTC)
If something being unsourced and subjective is one of the worst reasons for reversion that you've seen, then I gotta question what reversions you've seen. I'll add "unneeded" to it.
Also, I suggest that you review WP:BRD; it places the onus on discussion on the person trying to change the status quo. --Nat Gertler (talk) 21:07, 29 December 2020 (UTC)
