Challenged statements.[edit]

The tiny history section in general is mangled, but I'll start by challenging the statement that the Town of Wallkill lost land when Ulster County was formed. The T/Wallkill originally belonged in whole to Ulster.

Both Orange County and Ulster County were among the original 12 counties established by the Province of New York in 1683, as stated in the article, List of counties in New York. Perhaps the author of the statement is confusing what happened in 1798, when Rockland County was cleaved off from Orange? As compensation for the lost territory, Orange received several of Ulster's southern towns, including the Town of Walkill (not the Hamlet of Wallkill, Ulster County, New York, which is still within Ulster) and Newburgh (city), New York.

Please explain what you mean by that statement of lost territory to Ulster County, including your citation. If the statement is true, I want to find out the details.

The whole article has a general lack of inline citations or even of general citations and references, for that matter. If editors stick to proving their statements with sources, errors won't creep in, or if they do, they won't be the editor's fault. Better disambiguation needed[edit]

Wallkill of Ulster County cannot be described as nearby. Directions on maps show that it is a 16.4 mile drive from one to the other.Dogru144 (talk) 02:22, 10 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
