Per discussion at Wikipedia:Images and media for deletion/2007 July 16#Image:Warhammer40kPromo.JPG, this image is to be replaced by an image of the box cover when the game is released. Please be sure to take care of it at that time. Once replaced, Image:Warhammer40kPromo.JPG should be tagged with {{subst:orfud}} so that it can be deleted. howcheng {chat} 17:15, 23 July 2007 (UTC)

Cancellation?

Could someone please verify whether or not Dark Heresy has been canceled? I've looked on Black Industries website and nothing seems to be there about a cancellation or the publishing house closing. A reference to such a press release would be ideal... Raveled (talk) 12:54, 6 February 2008 (UTC)

It's announced on the website, and on the official BI forum. Only the releases noted as "forthcoming" (upto September this year) will be released as printed books. It's hoped that BI might be kept as a working division to at least release the remaining sourcebooks for download, but last I looked (a couple of days ago) there was no confirmation on that either way.
As for references, nothing that would pass WP:Cite, because GW has a habit of not mentioning bad news, and I have no access to RPG mags. Darkson (Yabba Dabba Doo!) 17:58, 6 February 2008 (UTC)
No, it's being transferred to Fantasy Flight Games. Canterbury Tail talk 00:01, 23 February 2008 (UTC)
Though for the weeks between BI dropping the game and FFG picking it up again the game was for all practical purposes cancelled, at least in the eye of the public. CapnZapp (talk) 12:04, 23 February 2008 (UTC)
Yeah, though to be fair no one ever said the line had been cancelled, just that BI wouldn't be releasing any more for it after the next few books. It was obvious someone would try and pick it up, it was just a case of who would GW be willing to license it to. Canterbury Tail talk 14:01, 23 February 2008 (UTC)

RPG info ??

I know this is a radical [heretical ??] idea and all, but can someone actually write something about the game - beyond it's done by BI, and it's now cancelled ??
As is, the article is almost pointless
193.243.227.1 (talk) 16:53, 18 February 2008 (UTC) Yes it is dead for now, GW is loosing money on the lor stuff and so they are cutting other things, to make up for it, Agian GW does nto look at their customer base and give them what they want,

It's not been cancelled, it's being transferred to Fantasy Flight Games, along with WFRP. Canterbury Tail talk 00:01, 23 February 2008 (UTC)

As requested, I have expanded the article to include more about how the game actually plays. I have added a short section on the basic premise of the game (acolytes working for an inquisitor), a brieft overview of the mechanics of how actions are resolved including a list of characteristics and a brief overview of how the career path system works. I didn't go into too much detail of the backstory as the 40k fluff is available on other pages.

Also added a list of offical products with a short description as I found this very useful in the Deadlands page

Rogue Trader?

Looks like 40kRPG:Rogue Trader has been announced so 'the future of the line' is not quite so uncertain. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 203.160.2.254 (talk) 00:20, 10 November 2008 (UTC)

Move suggestion

I'm of the opinion that once FFG releases Rogue Trader and we get some kind of writing done on it, we should move Dark Heresy out of this article into its own, and leave this one as a disambiguation/signpost linking to those two games. --Agamemnon2 (talk) 08:25, 13 April 2009 (UTC)

I'm not so sure, the whole lot is being done under the higher banner of Warhammer 40,000 Roleplay, and I'm not convinced there will really be enough material to justify multiple articles. Canterbury Tail talk 11:25, 13 April 2009 (UTC)
I wouldn't know about that, the DH line alone is pretty large, with 8 supplements released by the time of my writing this. Also, the label "Warhammer 40,000 Roleplay" is not all that common, for example on a cursory glance I don't see it mentioned once in the FFG website, as any sort of "higher banner" or otherwise. We'll see once Rogue Trader comes out, though. --Agamemnon2 (talk) 06:32, 19 May 2009 (UTC)
I agree that it should be moved, we have separate pages for Vampire and Warewolf, and there is currently quite a lot of information for a lone Dark Heresy page and in the future I think there will be enough for Rogue Trader and Deathwatch to have their own.Veles343 (talk) 13:13, 9 April 2010 (UTC)

unofficial rules that GW threatened to sue over

There was a website a while back that had published some very comprehensive rules for an unofficial 40k RPG based on the 1st edition WFRP rules (this was before there were any plans for a 40k RPG). They were issued a cease and desist, and so the content had to be taken down. Should this event have a paragraph under the history or maybe development section? 214.13.82.22 (talk) 22:06, 24 April 2010 (UTC)

Rogue Trader Career Paths

I've added the RT careers to the Career Path section. Some of the descriptions could do with some expansion. Rojomoke (talk) 14:07, 16 September 2010 (UTC)

Deathwatch Updates

I am newer to this so if I mess up let me know. I am adding the deathwatch info for chapters and classes. Tivanir (talk) 20:36, 9 March 2011 (UTC)

I will flesh out the classes more later when I can get my book in front of me but there is the generalities. Tivanir (talk) 20:34, 9 March 2011 (UTC)
I deleted Chaplain under career path. It isn't a career path in Deathwatch core. It is an Advanced Specialty added in Rites of Battle. We could have a list of Advanced Specialties but then we have to mention things in Ascension and that's over doing it. cruentus (talk) 20:43, 16 October 2011 (UTC)
Sorry to post this off account but I can't remember my password or access it right now. Yea it was my bad on the Chaplain path as I was trying to do it from memory. Eventually we should include all the higher level stuff as well but I don't have all the books yet. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 132.3.53.68 (talk) 17:21, 20 October 2011 (UTC)

Black Crusade?

Fantasy Flight Games released their fourth roleplaying system set in the Warhammer 40,000 universe named Black Crusade. This was quite many months ago and I'm surprised there still isn't anything about it on the wikipedia page. The first adventure supplement has already been released. Could someone do the writing? This is my first time writing anything on wikipedia so I don't exactly know about the rules of writing :) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 193.199.14.247 (talk) 18:00, 27 December 2011 (UTC)

Shortening Character Section

I am thinking of condensing the character sections and reducing their overall information. I think right now it borders on fancruft and I would like to see this article achieve GA in time. Any thoughts on this prior to me starting up the trimming process? Tivanir2 (talk) 13:11, 30 September 2014 (UTC)
