development[edit]

This article was just now started in a semi-automated way, and could use more attention, perhaps including use of sources that might be found online. Please help! For example: add sources (try Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs· FENS · JSTOR · TWL) or try Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs· FENS · JSTOR · TWL. Or develop from the sources already included in the article. --doncram (talk) 06:57, 15 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Glad to see pic added and development by User:Daniel Case. I wonder about restoring mention from my earlier draft of the "more lasting than brass" motto, which i thot was the germ of a DYK type quirky thing to explain. As I recall from my read of the NRHP nom document, Cass Gilbert had used that motto in a semi-sarcastic way. Indeed, it could be better presented/explained than in my draft. I had written:

Cass chose the motto "Quod eire perennius" (more lasting than brass), as a direct quote from Horace, but apparently also in an allusion to Waterbury's brass manufacturing industry.[1]: 21

  2. I just wonder if some mention of that could be worked back in. Anyhow, thanks for the development, the article is much improved. --doncram 11:42, 1 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
My goal is to put this in the history section. I found the Lincoln thing to be more DYK-worthy. Daniel Case (talk) 18:47, 6 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
