Number of episodes[edit]

There seems to have been earlier confusion that there would be 22 episodes released, with only the first 7 initially released. I have not found any available source online suggesting it; instead, official sources suggest that there are only 7 episodes. See the following release from the BBC press office: "The BBC have confirmed that the new series of Waterloo Road (7x60’) will premiere on BBC One and BBC iPlayer in January."

This seems quite clear to me. Please do not change the number of episodes to TBA without citing alternative sources demonstrating that there are more than seven episodes. _MB190417_ (talk) 14:30, 9 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I've also added to the article some sources from the popular press (1, 2, 3) all of which report that there are only seven episodes in the series. I'd be delighted to be proved wrong. _MB190417_ (talk) 14:41, 9 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
It's very clear that there are 7 episodes in this series. As they started filming nearly a full year ago, and the show was renewed with a suggestion that there would be 30+ eps a year, it's understandable there's speculation that there will be more sooner rather than later. But it is nothing more than that currently - and if the show does return this year, it is most likely it will be as series 12(/new series 2). Hopefully the long-term strategy will be announced soon. It's bizarre quite how much unreferenced confusion there's been if you look at the edit history, from 22 episodes in series 11 to 22 episodes over 3 new series. I suspect part of it has also to do with how the original series were often divided into A and B. In any case, I don't think it's inconceivable that the BBC wants to review the ratings of the seven episodes before airing/commissioning any more episodes it may/may not have already filmed if that is part of the long-term plan (the main article makes reference to replacing Holby City, but the source is behind a paywall). But for now, I think seven episodes is the best of our information, and all that the BBC has confirmed; without references, it feels like talk of more episodes is speculative. _MB190417_ (talk) 15:45, 9 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I don't know where 22 episodes has come from, but if that has been mentioned online somewhere it might well be the number of episodes filmed to date/as part of the initial commission. They were filming late last year, so very likely there is a significant number of more episodes ready to go. The shorter-than-expected series suggests the initial 30+ a year strategy may have changed, as does Angela Griffin playing up the benefits of the shorter run in the promotion for the series. But until there's official confirmation it's all speculation. U-Mos (talk) 18:16, 9 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Izzy's year group[edit]

@Soaper1234 I'm afraid you're mistaken about Izzy's year. She is new to the school in series 11 as it is explained in the narrative that the family have just moved into the area. She is seen in class with the year 9 characters (such as Tonya and Dwayne) during series 11. I believe it is also stated directly that she is 13 years old, though I'd have to check that to be sure. I invite you to self-revert. Great work on the rewrite otherwise! U-Mos (talk) 13:38, 9 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@U-Mos: Sorry, my mistake. I've revisited the actual episode and seen that is the narrative. I think I've got confused with what the press have been reporting. I did wonder why she spent a lot of time with the year 9 characters... I'll revert now. Soaper1234 - talk 15:58, 9 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
