Involvement with Coca Cola!?[edit]

This song (the celebration mix) or at least part of it was used in previous coca cola commercials, BEFORE the world cup AND before the single. The commercial was made in 2007, the single in 2008. Check out http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R1NnyE6DDnQ ... The celebration mix contains the characteristic coca cola tones. Does someone know the background? I think this is vital information: I experience a strong association with Coca Cola when hearing this song, so whenever this song is broadcast on the radio it feels like a free Coca Cola ad to me. Please someone find out the details and publish them! This is an absolutely BRILLIANT marketing strategy by Coca Cola though! I will try to add some text to the article to describe the way the tones were mixed into the celebration mix. To musical maniacs[edit]

Does some musical expert could check out that? The chords progression of some verses' parts reminds me several classical pieces, namely the Pachelbel's Cannon, (edited) used in so many pop songs. The chorus part reminds me the popular c f am g progression (like in Mika's We are golden). As I'm not on these musical experts, I might be wrong. Celebration Mix…[edit]

I think that "Original version" and "Celebration mix" subsections should be combined. It should be discussed in the article that the song was reworked for the World Cup, but as the World Cup nears and this song begins to chart in countries outside of Canada, it will chart as "Wavin' Flag" as shown on the Swiss Chart website and acharts.us, the same way it charted in Canada. Unofficial versions in the list?[edit]

Hello everybody! Maybe somebody who knows good sources should have a look at the list of the international versions. Some of them don't seem to be official releases. That Mongolian(?) version (which by no mean is bad) doesn't even include K'naan. It is, however, sung in four languages, i.e. English, Spanish, Arabic and the remaining must then be Mongolian. (The IP above is me) You are absolutely right about YouTube, Hattori-Kun. I'm not even sure if the links should be there at all (legality?). I know many people are glad they are there, so was I, but on other wikis they wouldn't survive for more than 5 minutes. Alright. I found only 3 of their official release, but not from either K'Naan or Coke page, instead they are on artist's official Website. I still don't know if this can be used as a source, anyway. I'm not sure, either. I think we could hide them (comment them out) at least for a while and decide later on. Maybe it will trigger some sort of attention and/or reaction. Also, please ignore that Haitian press release I posted above for the moment. You are right, anonymous. However, you have to imagine Wikipedia like, say, a country, i.e. a lot of people doing a lot of things many of which don't follow the rules. And, what is more, en.wiki is not my home wiki, I'm not completely familiar with all its policies. Also, I think we can't completely remove the list as it's confirmed that there are official bilingual versions of the song. Although several rules in Thai Wikipedia (my home wiki) derived from the rule here, neither Kazu nor me are completely familiar with English Wikipedia since our home wiki is not here, but others. I would actually tagged the bilingual section as under discussion, but I can't seems to find the right template one. Besides, real life concern dragged me away from monitoring Wikipedia. A few days I just come back with the new source, which can be used since it comes from The Coca-Cola Company's official website. This fact sheet, published on May 27, 2010, confirmed the following version as their official colleborations. Very good song, both versions, but ..[edit]

I'm not sure the treatment here is ideal. Could we perhaps adjust the intro and body to discuss the song's meaning slightly earlier in the article? We appreciate your request and are trying to address your concerns about what is actually the original about Somalia, and what is a remake be it for Haiti (charity) or for FIFA (promotional).
