Talk:Waynesboro 5th Street fire

It is always pleasant to read WikiPedia articles about my home town, and particularly interesting to read about events of our city's history. I have suggested edits in a couple of places, so far, including a change in the opening sentence about the explosions happening in "Augusta County, Virginia". Because of Virginia's concept of Independent Cities, Waynesboro is not a part of Augusta County, but is instead its own county.

The other edit suggests replacing the word "propene" with "propane" because propane is the more likely gas to be carried in the city's residential fuel lines. If there is specific knowledge that propene was indeed the substance in this instance, then please reject the substitution.

Story May Not Have Occured[edit]

I've lived in Virginia my whole life and am somewhat knowledgeable on the subject of disasters. I had never heard of this and ran searches through Google as well as several newspapers from Virginia and the DC area to which I subscribe, to make sure it was not something I simply had not heard of. I cannot find any mention of such a disaster occurring in 1984, let alone ever. There have been accidents in the area, but nothing I can find about this. As such, I don't believe this happened. If I am wrong, please point me to the source. --Fx Gentleman (talk) 00:20, 2 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
