"Professional" review?[edit]

I don't think a blog called The Music Nazi which just raves mindlessly without any written support exactly qualifies as professional.

I just deleted the Professional Review section. I read those two reviews and they were horrendous. Completely unqualified as professional. Until we get some actual professional reviews, it's best we leave that section blank. (professional reviews, i.e. Rolling Stone, AMG, Robert Christgau, Pitchfork Media, or even some lesser known reviews)

Art[edit]

Where did the album art come from? I looked for an official article that said they released the album art and found none...not to mention the fact that it says nothing about copyrights on the image page and for all other album covers it does...did someone just randomly upload a picture of album art THEY did?

Someone tried to add the picture to the article here, but didn't do it right, so I uploaded it and put it on the page --Surachit 22:43, 12 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Is there any source? Because my guess would be that some fan probably just photoshopped this poster...

Sorry I dont really know how to do this but I have seen the new track titles deleted before, and now they have been put back on, does anyone know if they are real?


Deleting this addition until a citation is given. Looks like a joke. A funny joke, but a joke nevertheless.

On the main Modest Mouse page, the release date is given as March 7th, but here it says March 6th. Which one is right?

Leak[edit]

Leaked today (15th Feb). Should information on this be posted on the page itself? I'm not sure of the general consensus as to details on leaking information, last time I saw it on an album an edit war later proceeded. AllynJ 23:21, 15 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

No reason not to have info. about the leak, it is genuine information affecting the album. I removed a duplicate entry of this info.

I've been talking with a Mouse community for a short while and it was there that the information originated. I believe a few of the members listened to it on the radio at the time. Credits... Too Long?[edit]

Does anybody else think we should shorten the credits? I mean, the producer is listed previously in the article, band members can be found at the Modest Mouse page, and most the rest are things like who played the shaker on a track or who helped clap to another. Trivia[edit]

Perhaps it should be mentioned somewhere that the song 'spitting venom' contains lyrics from a previous modest mouse song called White Lies, Yellow Teeth; which was a bonus track on Good News for People Who Love Bad News.

Eh. Isaac has a tendency of reusing a lot of his favorite lines. Like in "3 Inch Horses, Two-Faced Monsters" and "I Came As A Rat" (and even Beesting, sort of) with "I don't know but I've been told you never die and you'll never grow old"; and Tundra/Desert and then Trucker's Atlas with the "I don't feel and it feels great/fine" thing. It wasn't a bonus track on Good News. It's been around much longer.

Possible source for album title?[edit]

In keeping with Isaac's fondness for Virginia Woolf, We Were Dead.. might be taken from Woolf's Mrs. Dalloway: "a doomed race, chained to a sinking ship." (p.66 of the Oxford World's Classics edition.)

Generally, the term 'indie' when used in the UK, tends to refer to a specific genre of music, rather than the status of their record label; in line with this popular trend, record producers will often coerce their artists into imitating the style of so-called 'indie'. If anyone could find a citation for that first sentence under release details., then that would be great and the citation for The king rat thing needs to be better.
