There is already a list of load testing tools at https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Load_testing&section=3&wteswitched=1#Load_testing_tools ... maybe it should be consolidated? Alfgames (talk) 20:53, 9 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Outdated external links[edit]

I don't believe any of the external links following this article are current. Anyone up to the task of updating them? I've never made such a substantial edit to an article but I would be glad to if no one else steps up. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Tlamarre (talkcontribs) 23:05, 26 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

There are three. Two are Microsoft and the other is another link. How exactly are they not "current"? How do you intend to update them to make them more "current"? Walter Görlitz (talk) 23:20, 26 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
The first link to microsoft.com was initially published in 2007 and last edited in 2010. On that page, the first link, with the text "Download the Performance Testing Guidance for Web Applications Guide" leads to a page that specifically states that that page has been archived, leading me to believe that the information it had contained is outdated.
The second link pertains to stress-testing a server running IIS 7.0, which, if you're running a modern web-server, would be irrelevant.
Upon review, the third link is actually fine.
My proposal for bringing the "external links" section up-to-date would be as follows:
- Remove the first two links immediately.
- I will research material that might fill in the missing space.
As it stands, the current external links section (aside from the third link) is at best uninformative and at worst misleading. Thanks for the reply, by the way! And the message introducing me to wikipedia. Tlamarre (talk) 22:29, 27 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Now that I'm looking into this, I believe I have some further ideas about how this article might be revised and expanded. Would you like me to submit them to you for approval, or should I just go ahead and make the edits? Thanks to your extremely helpful explanation of how Wikipedia works, I know that you can review and revert my changes at your discretion. Tlamarre (talk) 23:08, 27 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not the owner of the page. I just watch it for inappropriate editing. If you want to make the changes, feel free to be WP:BOLD. Walter Görlitz (talk) 23:52, 27 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
OK, thanks for the input. I'll be doing a little research and hopefully make some positive contributions soon. Tlamarre (talk) 00:36, 28 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
And try to keep WP:EL in mind while doing so. Walter Görlitz (talk) 01:17, 28 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
