Film location?[edit]

I was watching an old film last night called 'Please turn over' made 1959,featuring many British comedy legends, Ted Ray, Leslie Philips, Joan Sims, Charles Hawtrey etc. There was one scene where Victor Maddern and Julia Lockwood go to a railway station. I am certain this is Wellingborough. Can anyone else confirm this? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Rushden filmbuff (talkcontribs) 10:45, 25 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Well, the internet move database says Beaconsfield. British film makers in those days often did location shooting close to the studio. Saved money, you see. Afterbrunel (talk) 11:42, 9 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Horton's guide to Railways on film states the location to be Gerrards Cross, but the location is very close to Beaconsfield, so the filming reasons by Afterbrunel seem quite sound.[1] Sorry, but IMDB can be quite unreliable. The joy of all things (talk) 12:44, 9 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Rolling stock[edit]

East Midlands trains has 24 class 43 "HST" power cars and 27 Meridian units. So to say that EMT 'run most of its services using Meridian trains' would be inaccurate. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 80.79.208.21 (talk) 09:16, 24 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

There are two power cars to each HST set, making 12 sets. While there are 27 Meridians, more than double the number of HSTs. The HSTs are clearly less than half of the InterCity fleet and not many call at Wellingborough these days. Likelife (talk) 17:21, 24 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
