Sources and NPOV[edit]

This article does not source its assertion and is not neutral. It appears to have been written by someone in her office or campaign. -Will Beback · · 02:15, 21 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Alas, no time to rewrite this and election is tomorrow, but this article is ludicrously biased but seems just not quite to meet deletion criteria. I agree 100% with the author above. LAEsquire (talk) 09:52, 3 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I just checked her official website at the city council, and the wiki page is basically a selective copy-paste version of that site. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 130.154.0.250 (talk) 23:51, 16 March 2009
Agreed, however I find the tone / sourcing issues covered by the Advert template. I've removed NPOV as redundant. - RoyBoy 20:56, 28 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Hi everyone. So, in an attempt to make this article useful to readers, I'm working on adding cites to all the claims. So far, I think I've got all the ones that are still live. Next, I'll work on bringing back the text that was deleted, but only where I can find cites. It's not great language - mostly a junior-high plagiarism job (cut, paste, tweak adjectives) on official sources - but it's a starting place for more substantive edits. I want to offer my full disclosure: I am both a long-time (but casual) contributor here to Wikipedia, and a political consultant. My clients include Wendy Greuel. That said, I'm highly focused on ensuring NPOV and a "just the facts ma'am" approach. My goal isn't to spin anything, but rather to make sure that there's a complete article. It's silly that the sitting City Controller and a leading candidate for Mayor has a Wikipedia page that doesn't include any material about her role as a City Council member and City Controller. It's been three weeks or so since the article was stripped of content, and I think that's a disservice to voters. I certainly invite - welcome! - others to make edits. I've let a bunch of other Wikipedians I know (and who are totally disengaged from the LA Mayor's race) and invited them to come in over the top of me to make edits. Thanks, folks. Karichisholm (talk) 18:00, 19 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Thought I'd pick this up again, since no one else has. I've added back the City Council section. Next up, the Controller section. Thanks, folks. Karichisholm (talk) 09:09, 25 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Waited another couple of weeks, and no one jumped in to work on the Controller section (except the controversies). So, that's now up - with citations. See my note above; feel free to edit my work. I'm going to remove the sources tag at the top now. Karichisholm (talk) 07:32, 11 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

leave the calendar edits alone![edit]

no reason to delete-they meet all criteria-it will just be added every time you delete it!!!!!!!!!!!!!! whoever you are over at UCLA-stick to homework and get off wikipedia!

We're all working here to maintain NPOV, use grammatical English, and follow Wikipedia standards. A controversies section is appropriate, but you've got a lot of typos - and your references aren't formatted properly. Also, you should check out your own personal talk page (some of your edits were reversed by a Wikipedia bot because they were against policy.) Oh, and you're adding entire paragraphs and tagging them as "minor edits", which is a major flag for editors. Karichisholm (talk) 09:11, 25 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Conflict of interest[edit]

Kari Chisholm is a member of Wendy's committee. GeorgeLouis (talk) 15:24, 11 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, and I fully disclosed that above, nearly two months ago. I wrote the note above and made the edits that I did, and how I did, at the advice of a senior-level Wikipedian. When I visited this page in mid-December, someone had wiped out EVERYTHING about Wendy Greuel. It's absurd that a leading candidate for Mayor and long-time elected official would have zero information about her City Council and City Controller tenure. I added back as much language as I could, making minor edits, and adding citations. I welcome folks making edits to improve the material. In fact, I did it in stages, hoping someone else would pick up the torch. No one did. Karichisholm (talk) 17:50, 11 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
And, by the way, if I was trying to spin it, I'd have removed the calendar controversy section. I think that's a trumped-up bunch of nonsense, but I've left it alone - since removing it would certainly be putting my biased thumb on the scale. I'm doing my level-best to make sure that the article is complete, without adding any spin to it. I do a lot of wikipedia editing and work hard to maintain NPOV. (And almost never on my clients, for precisely this reason.) Karichisholm (talk) 18:15, 11 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I read the article and don't see any issue here. Since the comment above has gone for over a week without a response, I've removed the {{COI}} banner on the article. (Disclosure, Kari is a friend and brought this to my attention, but this is my own opinion based on what I read in the article.) -Pete (talk) 16:14, 19 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
The article cited in Calendar controversy has many accusations but they are entirely accusations of something wrong. Unless it has been determined that any of the accusations are accurate it seems to me the article is now not relevant. If any of the accusations are determined to be accurate then there should citations to that instead of the accusations. Sam Tomato (talk) 20:20, 20 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Audit record[edit]

I deleted most of the section titled "Audit record" because it was sourced to (25), (27) and (28) official memos from the city controller's office and (26) to a weblog run by somebody named Karen Young. These do not fit the definitions of WP:Reliable sources. The L.A. Daily News and the Sentinel are good sources, but I haven't checked the articles yet to see if they actually say what is reported here. Also, here is a tip to anybody adding WP:Original research from these non-Reliable sources: This Wikipedia article is not going to sway the election one way or another, so you are simply making work for WP editors.
