Subsection '1968 Siege'[edit]

As one who remembers hearing of the police siege at Weston through local news as a child, I query the statement that at 17 days it is as simply put 'the longest siege in UK history', considering down history there have been military sieges of castles and towns/cities (eg of Londonderry covering 3 months in 1689, where residents ended up starving and reduced to eating cats and dogs) which may have taken longer in days that were less technologically advanced than the motorised 20th century. I have qualified it as being the longest siege of a wanted person. (It is definitely longer than the siege of Sidney Street which took place in a city setting.)Cloptonson (talk) 12:58, 31 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
