"Allusion to contemporary events"[edit]

Because, like "Development", this section refers to how Marsh's visit to Rome in 1968 inspired the novel (or parts of it), I think it would make sense to merge the two. Per$1$tenceofv1$1on (talk) 00:15, 24 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Plot Synopsis[edit]

Another editor has pointed out [1] that the text currently under "Synopsis" isn't actually a plot summary but evaluative comments on the novel. I'm replacing this with a synopsis that's roughly 700 words; comments about the character of Lady Braceley and the novel's recreation of Rome are in the "Reception" section.
