Inspiration[edit]

Apparently Idol was on "I Love the 80s", and he said that the inspiration for the song was that his little sister got pregnant at a young age and decided to marry the guy, which Billy was against, and that the song is supposed to indicate a general disgust for weddings.

In the second verse there is a reference to a "faisal wish" (sp?), although some lyrics providers refer to it as a "hey little sister what's your 'vice and wish'". I remember reading that a "faisal wish" was like a "wish for your future" often associated with weddings but I cannot track it down. Any input on this? Bleeding finger[edit]

This is almost definitely in the wrong spot but I'm new at Wiki editing... But I've gone over YouTube and GoogleVids and everything and I've NEVER seen the ring ACTUALLY get put on her finger, nor any bleeding (re: line about how the girl insisted her finger actually be cut for realism's sake). Every site and person goes on about how iconic it was/is and how they'll never forget that scene, but every clip/version I've seen shows a quick camera zoom in on the ring itself, spliced in with some reaction shots from the bride. Does it exist? Yes, you can clearly see it in the uncensored version of the video. It is unspectacular though. I have not found this version on YouTube. "white wedding" referring to slang for geting at coke for the second time?[edit]

I've heard once "white wedding" is a slang for someone going cocaine again after having stopped it for some time. it also nicely explains "nice day to start again" line. However it might be a pure speculation.

"Start again" is a literal term for deciding to give up being clean and go back to using drugs. "Shotgun" is a drug term for exhaling the smoke from one a person's lungs into another person's mouth (while inhaling) to get a second "hit" and conserve product. "Little sister" is a direct reference to crack cocaine. "White" wedding is a reference to being addicted to crack cocaine. Interesting point. I heard the term used in this way a couple of years ago, although I'm sure it was a play on the song rather than the origonal inspiration for the song. Why Pt. 1?[edit]

There is a much longer version that was released as a 12" single. But since the advent of CDs the 12" single is no more.
