notability comment[edit]

This band is important because it has used its music to promote Make Poverty History and UNICEF for years. It donates money raised from its songs and continues to openly promote such causes. It is unique in that way and has gained a reputation. If you read the biography, you will see that this is a band that is trying to make a difference and is gaining support because of this. One thing that would help is showing coverage of the band in independent reliable sources. Other than the Radio 3 page, all the coverage seems to be the band's website, MySpace, etc. (ReverbNation bills itself as a "marketing platform used by over 900,000 artists, managers, record labels, and venues.") —C.Fred (talk) 17:02, 12 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
After reading the Radio 3 profile closer, I've declined to speedy delete the article. A credible claim is made that the band meets criterion #10 of WP:BAND: "Has performed music for a work of media that is notable." Between the three charities and Brad Pitt's MySpace, I see a credible assertion that the band's music is used in the fundraising efforts and that the band is known for this use of their music. This won't exempt the band from being the subject of deletion discussion, but it will require at least a week of discussion before that would happen. —C.Fred (talk) 17:10, 12 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Conflict of interest[edit]

Scaramangaify (talk · contribs) is the primary and original editor of this article. A user by the same name on Commons uploaded all three of the images used in the article and asserted that (s)he is the copyright holder.

As two of the images are album covers, it follows that User:Scaramangaify has a conflict of interest with the band. (Who else but a band member, an artist hired by the band, the band's manager, or personnel at the band's label would hold the copyrights?) Although I do not feel that the text is fatally flawed by the conflict, I have flagged the article anyway. —C.Fred (talk) 17:19, 12 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

That was my mistake. I misunderstood the guidelines and I thought that any picture in a public access domain (on their myspace or facebook page) was considered public access. I've taken the pictures down as a result. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Scaramangaify (talkcontribs) 12:32, 13 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

That looks like the same image that is already in the article and is at Commons at File:"WHY".jpg. —C.Fred (talk) 18:51, 29 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
