Genre[edit]

"Future is a rapper and his music always been labeled as 'hip hop'."[1]

Thought experiment: Future learns to play cello and records a Chopin sonata. He then records cover of "Take the A Train". Played side by side with the Duke's version, it is indistinguishable. No matter what he does, though, everything he records is hip hop. He is utterly incapable of anything else.

This article (and thousands of others) is subject to genre warring. Someone is absolutely certain this song is hip hop, trap, new jack swing, 50s throwback bubble gum pop or whatever. Another editor is positive the song is something else. Maybe one of them is right. Maybe they both are. Maybe neither one is right.

This song might very well be hip hop. It might be trap. It might be neither one. There is apparently disagreement over which of the various opinions is "right". It's both.[2] No, it's just trap.[3]No, it's just hip hop.[4]

In such cases, reliable sources are the cure. - SummerPhDv2.0 15:03, 18 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
