Proposed deletion of Wilford Lane tram stop[edit]

The article Wilford Lane tram stop has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern: Why would a tram stop be notable? What's next, bus stops? -- Fram (talk) 10:23, 10 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I don't think there has ever been a consensus sought on the general question of whether tram stops (or more strictly, light rail stations, which is what NET stops are) are more like railway stations (for which there is an inclusion consensus) or bus stops (for which there isn't). However by precedent they are considered notable for the purpose of article creation, and that precedent is derived from a number of local consensi for inclusion (and a rather smaller number against). See, for example, Tram stops in the United Kingdom, which indirectly contains articles for every tram stop on the Croydon Tramlink, Manchester Metrolink, Midland Metro, and Nottingham Express Transit, together with some of the stops on the Sheffield and Edinburgh systems. Or if you would prefer a more global set of precedents, MAX Light Rail stations, Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority light rail stations or MetroLink (St. Louis) stations. There are many others.
Now turning to this article in isolation, I would contend that Geoffery Skelsey's book meets the requirement for significant coverage in secondary sources. I'd obviously be happier if I could find a second secondary source with more than a passing reference, but I don't read WP:N as requiring multiple such sources.
I have therefore removed the {{proposed deletion}} tag from this article, as it is clear that its deletion would not be uncontroversial. If you still feel that things like Wilford Lane tram stop are not notable, I would suggest that you raise the subject for discussion at a more general level. -- chris_j_wood (talk) 14:17, 10 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
