Pay[edit]

Wilkinson also expects its employees to work long hours for little pay, even taking money from its employee's wages to recoup losses during the two days in February 2007 in which it snowed, causing customers to stay at home while Wilkinson staff worked long and hard both days only to receive an even more minimal wage than usual.

- As far as I know as a Wilkinson employee in the distribution centre, this is not true. Staff are not required to work more than 8 hours a day or 39 hours a week. I also never had my pay cut during february.

- I am a CSA for them and i totally disagree, pay is same if not better than competitors e.g. Sainsburys. Although i am part time i know no-one works more than 39 hours (security guard). NO Money was ever deducted from our wages due to lack of earnings. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Aaron manz (talkcontribs) 19:22, 23 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

That's what my mum works for them, she's a section leader at one of the shops. Pay is slightly above National Minimum Wage. Digifiend 12:32, 4 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Wilkinsonlogo2.jpg[edit]

Image:Wilkinsonlogo2.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Brief Encounter[edit]

An early Wilkinson store (a real-life one in, I believe, Beaconsfield) can be seen in the background in the 1945 film Brief Encounter (which is set in 1938). I don't know whether this is worthy of inclusion in the article, but you never know. ProhibitOnions (T) 21:31, 17 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

The logo has changed (quite a drastic change too!), and thus needs to be updated in this article. The old one could be put further down the article, like the Woolworths logo is in their article. Digifiend (talk) 13:57, 27 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Rebranding to Wilko[edit]

Earlier this year the stores were rebranded to Wilko. See http://www.retail-week.com/sectors/general-merchandise/wilkinson-rebrands-store-estate-to-wilko-matching-new-strapline/5059571.article

Perhaps someone who knows what they are doing can update this article, please?

Requested move 30 October 2014[edit]

The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.

The result of the move request was: Not moved - Personally I'm for and against the move, I assume everyone either doesn't care or like myself is unsure so may as well close and perhaps retry in a year or 8 .... –Davey2010(talk) 06:04, 10 November 2014 (UTC) –Davey2010(talk) 06:04, 10 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Wilkinson (retailer)Wilko – Roughly between 2010-2014 Wilkinson began rebranding to Wilko and as far as I'm aware most, if not all stores now carry the Wilko name, (I was going to move myself but thought best I started a request instead.), Cheers, –Davey2010(talk) 21:39, 30 October 2014 (UTC) --Relisted. • Oppose. Wilko is a common nickname and is used on their website, but most stores are still branded Wilkinson as far as I know. I haven't actually seen any stores just calling themselves Wilko. -- Necrothesp (talk) 16:21, 5 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]
"Wilko" isn't a nickname for anything? ... Anyway Most stores have been rebranded (To be honest the Wilko near me's been rebranded since 2012 and I've never even noticed until yesterday! ) –Davey2010(talk) 16:45, 5 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]
